T20 World Cup - October 2022

Just to throw into the debate is it worth opening with Salt and Hales with Buttler coming in whenever it suits the team.

Especially if we chasing

No better game situation player or finisher in T20 than Buttler.

So is it worth considering probably not considering Buttler’s record as a opener but just a thought?

I worry a bit about Butter facing Bhuvi and Arshdeep if they get the new ball swinging as well. Cannot knock his record as an opener but in a one off game it’s worth considering

Aye their opening bowlers were a nightmare over here in the summer in both white ball formats. We couldn't get bat on ball at times. That was with a completely out of nick Roy at one end mind

That would be the right thing to do. I think you need the number three to play the anchor role. Of course, Stokes also has that ability to accelerate, as and when.
Stokes' greatest innings across all formats have come when he's had time to play himself in, it's why his record in T20 isn't the best as coming in at 6 he usually has to go straight away. 3 is probably his natural position, doing pretty much what Malan does and dropping out for Livingstone/Moeen/Brookes/Salt if the openers get off to a flyer.

Stokes has batted higher often enough let's not excuse a shit record

I’ve never been convinced by stokes in t20, that stretches all the way back to his early t20 for Durham. I just don’t feel he has grasped how to demonstrate his skills in the format

having wrote this I expect 8 wickets and 100 runs and England win the tournament from Ben

The umpires for the match are from two nations we knocked out. An Aussie and a Sri Lankian.

Indians on twitter are convinced they'll win as Richard Kettleborough isn't involved.

He's been in on reputation alone but it paid off in the last game hopefully same again it's frustrating we all know he's capable, I'd still be tempted just to put salt at 3

Not sure the extra batter is necessary, with Curran and Woakes in the side.
