T20 season 2022

Picking bairstow is not baffling like

No other test side in the world would drop someone with 2 100s in their last 4 tests

I just don’t get it

If you want Brook in drop foakes not one of your form men

McCullum said he’s playing 5

Bairstow has to play like he’s bang in form and scoring test runs

As I say above if you want to pick Brook, I’d like him in the side too btw, then there are others to drop
I didn't really mean dropping Bairstow. I meant Foakes or Lawrence or one of that ilk

Bairstow should definitely play imo.

Picking someone who hasn't played red ball cricket for 10 weeks baffles me. He may have scored 2 test centuries in the last 6 months,he's also had 8 failures.

 Why are you saying 6 months? It’s in his last 4 tests

And No he hasn’t had 8 failures

You do realise that none of New Zealand’s team have played either

What a bizarre post, some people just like to moan for the sake of it

What I've posted is fact -an opinion based on fact. Bizarre to you, a moan to you, fact nevertheless.

You seem to be criticising him for the fact there’s been no tests in the last 6 months
I'm not criticising him at all. I'm expressing concern that he's hasn't played any red ball cricket for 10 weeks. He's also an inconsistent test batsman, especially in England. Those 2 fact makes his selection debatable imo. Don't see how that's either bizarre or moaning.
I'll concede that England aren't exactly rich with alternatives.

He’s been englands most consistent batsman in the last 2 series

With all our problems someone scoring 100s should not be dropped

If Brook had scored 2 100s in 4 tests be the exact opposite opinion from you

There certainly wouldn't be any doubt from me had he played some red ball cricket in recent weeks. Pretty certain he'll be playing anyway- be it at 5 or 7.
And the Kiwis have played red ball cricket recently although batters didn't do too well this morning.

He should have been dropped ages ago averaging 21 in his previous 41 innings. You have called for players to face capital punishment for having better records than that Having said that what you have stated is absolutely true in that our batting is so poor the last thing you are going to do is drop someone who has just had a couple of hundreds.

He was dropped

He has just come back in the side, and has been our best batsman

have people got amnesia or something?

He has scored 2 100s in 4 tests, Ollie Pope has 1 test 100 in like 4 years

I genuinely have no idea what you are talking about here like, you've lost me

Williamson just arrived a few days ago like

its the modern game

Better if he had played more I agree but lets not pretend county runs are equal to test runs, they just aren't, we know that.

Sorry if I was a bit defensive, just always seems like he is the one people pick on, even when others are performing much worse!

That’s exactly what I’ve said 😂 you do get far too invested in individual players mind. Whether it’s Bairstow for England cricket or footballers like Dan Neil where their selection seems to be more important than anything else. Essentially Bairstow was very lucky to get another chance, did so and we both agree he should be in the team.
