The annoying and infuriating thing is this game was winnable had our opening batters played with one iota of common sense the brainless twits

I’m not sure how much we can take from runs scored in garbage time* but you do have something of a point.

@Monument View is right too, the last 5/6 overs of their innings (credit to our bowlers) meant we could afford a slowish start aslong as we had wickets left down the stretch. It’s a smallish ground, we saw how easy it was to clear the rope when they batted with many miscues going the distance.

*To coin an American term of which I think fits this situation well.

Yeah, SB was OK. I think he's shown enough shots to bat higher up the order. My concern with him is he tends to nurdle the spinners, as a player who tends to use the pace of the ball, so the runs dry up. If we'd brought him in at 3 or 4 it might have stopped some of the carnage and provided an opportunity to rebuild.
