I reckon this will be in sooner or later, but in what format?

Bearing in mind the West Indies team will be split up into all the little islands for it.

Whoooooooooosh!!!

There aren't many countries that play it though. Plus as you say - West Indies would have to be split up.

England, Australia, Canada, USA, Netherlands, all the Windies, Kenya, South Africa, Holland, Namibia, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, UAE, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, NZ and probably a few more would field a team.

After typing all that, I still hope it doesnt happen

West Indies would be split up and use qualifiers; surely wouldn't be too hard. Jamaica vs TandT; Antigua vs Guyana etc etc.

Associate teams would have to qualify but that leaves too many Test playing nations unless they only use the top 4 or 6.

Could be done I reckon.

16 teams max. 4 groups of 4.

However, it would be an absolute farce because as soon as it goes to a non-cricketing country - say Brazil in 2016 - the grounds will either need to specially built (and that isn't going to happen) or use club grounds. England vs Mexico at Brazils version of Houghton...

No harm in temporary seating. How do you think there's 10000 cheering on the rowing and loads cheering on the canoeing etc? It's all temporary stands. Could easily get 5000 seats put up at a club ground.

Id be up for it.

Why would any cricket lover not want it to go global?

Have you seen the sports that we're up against? Karate, golf and Baseball? FFS.

We need to in the olympics more than them fuckers.

Its already global, its played in Europe, Asia, Australasia, Africa and North America.. The only way I wouldnt be totally against it is if it was played by amateurs with maybe 3 1st class pro's allowed in the squads. Having internationals involved would be detriment to the English Test cricket calendar.

As the host country England were able to choose a sport to go in to these Olympics. T20 cricket was one of the choices but they chose something else (Can't remember what).

It's fair enough. It shouldn't be in just as football shouldn't.

How about 'no players with a test cap allowed'?

Our team could be something like:

Hales
Root
Hildreth
Stokes
Buttler
Wright
Kieswetter
Borthwick
Woakes
Meaker
Dernbach

Surely if it was a T20 format it would be without a T20 cap? That would rule most of the above out.

Would they have to change the eligibility rules compared to the ICC? For example, Morgan playing for GB or Ireland?

The prior argument was that it would detract from the Test match schedule. If you don't pick any test match players, then that wouldn't be an issue.

Either that or you could do an under 23's policy like football.

Also re Morgan - being Irish shouldn't be an issue. Mo Farah was born in Somalia but represents GB. One of the cycling team is a German but has lived in Britain for a couple of years so represents GB.

It needs to be more global though mate. Be nice for other countries (apart from our ex colonies) to love the most artistic and beautiful sport on the planet like we do.

I hear you about the entry criteria. Should be under 23 and two over like the footy.

Ridiculous Idea IMO

I still have major problems with certain Olympic sports. You have NBA stars playing basketball and Premier League stars playing football, yet boxing is for amateurs.

I like this argument that a sport should only be in the Olympics if winning a gold medal is the absolute pinnacle for anyone competing. Can't see that being the case for cricket, and it would only be the case in the other sports if they went back to the amateur players!
