T20 :: Durham v Leicestershire

In t20 at home mate. Pleased with the championship progress which is the more important form to me anyway.
I understand your point but we are still well in contention

it’s always down to little things a T20 game and we did beat a lancs team laden with top t20 players the game before

not only Durham, unbeaten worcester lost at home to second bottom Northamptonshire who we hammered

it’s that tight and at least this season, you can see a semblance of a plan in games we play

it may fail but it has won more so far this season

If we had Carse and Coggs in would share your confidence mate. But the bowling in the first 6 at the moment has no control batters have to take very few risks to score big.

Their bowling was accurate good areas and variations. Contrast that to Parnell wide, full toss, pitched one outside leg and another almost wide.

De Leede other than v Northampton has been allover the place. It’s like we just to try to get them out the way to get Sowter on.

Agreed and @viccarlton mentioned earlier that coughlin could return after the championship game next week, so he would be in the side, I would have thought

in all the games I’ve never understood not using Turner to bowl at least two either

I know Parnell has not performed well yet but he has ability.

raine 4
sowter 4
parnell 4

so we need 8 out of the rest,

Turner and Trev 2 each

then de leede / robinson/ glover four between them as only two of them would start

if coughlin comeback then he could bowl 3 or 4 on a good day

Our form continues to be shocking mind. We are currently going to lose more games if we don’t sort the bowling out first 6 overs.

Northamptonshire apart it’s been dreadful and I really do not get the point of the Parnell signing he has served utter dross so far.
That’s just complete nonsense mind. Bad day at the office but we go again

Not seen a ball bowled today so won't comment on the Leicestershire game but personally i think we are doing ok in this t20 campaign.
Lets be honest we have had much stronger starting XIs than this and not been any better in the past 20 years.
I can only think of Trevaskis of the proven t20 performers from the past few years who hasn't put a performance in yet. But when he has played for the 2nds he has looked a class above the other players.
Just watched the head coaches post match interview and he mentioned the bowling in the power play not being good enough. Also looked like he was off to a Stone Roses gig tonight.
Brandon is a Stone Roses fan.I wonder if he's tagged along 🤔😉

Ah ok. Thought we did well on Friday mind. It is what it is this T20 carry on. I'm looking forward to Sunday in the red ball. Early forecast looks tremendous. We'll be ok, it's going to take time after what's gone on previously.

Bitterly disappointed to lose a game like that, it feels like a real missed opportunity because this group appears very much like it’ll be very competitive.

Both Robinson’s were very good and the lad Luke has earned a start in the next few games for me.

De Leede has to have a rest for a few games.

Why wasn’t Turner bowled more/at all? We NEED three spinners bowling at the very least half of the overs in my view - all succesful T20 teams have a couple of really influential spinners and the variety of pace, spin, pace off.

Felt like there was a few odd bowling changes, where we seemed to go against what has worked for us already in the competition to try something completely random (like giving Trevaskis two off the belt).
...

is that you pooly?

Aye, I did worry about it being a trap game like and to be honest it had all the hallmarks. Leicestershire wanted it more, we played for the most part like we lacked any urgency.

over of the day for me was Raine's 1 run over. Patel was all over the place trying and failing to lay bat on ball. Then instead of continuing with Sowter we put Trev back on to hand all the momentum back to the batters again. Not sure what's happened with Trev this year. He seems a mile off where he was over the last couple of seasons

One of the big positives to come out of this afternoon's performance is that having watched Parnell and de Leede bowl Mrs RT was given many examples to finally and fully understand the difference between a 4 and a 6..

As for my 86 year old mother - well she enjoyed the afternoon although she was a bit disappointed that when the sun finally put in an appearance we were still in the shade from our seats in front of the Health Club and she was curious as to why 'the big blue stand' wasn't being used. I could only reply that everyone was in the shade on that score !

Roll on next Sunday and the brief return of the red ball cricket.:D

Telephones are all in agreement about the trap door

on a personal level, I had a very acceptable chicken gryos from the Greek tuck wagon. Far superior to the godawful scampi and chips last Monday.

I noticed that at half time with queues piling up everywhere, the scampi van had no queue at all. Clearly others have learned the same lesson as me

Jamie (I presume it was Jamie) was dressed as Mario (I think) boogying away to the country and western singer and looking very, very happy about it
