T20 :: Durham v Leicestershire

Pointing out shortcomings doesn't make one a bedwetter. DeLeede clearly isn't up to it with the ball.
we lost the game because none of our top three batters, for once didn't come off. That's going to happen.
We've won 3/5. Always will be shortcomings in this format with every single team but we've had a good start and played some good cricket. People going way over the top. We were world beaters less than 48 hours ago. A lot of damage was done in recent years, it's going to take time/trial and error to fix that. I've seen so many massive improvements in both formats this year it's taken my by suprise given I have no expectations this year. We'll be fine, way ahead of where we should be at the moment

It’s looking to me that winning score at CLS this season is between 180 and 190

bat first achieve that and I think we will win more than we lose 80%

bowl first and restrict a team below that, then I think our win percentage would 90%

Just back home, needless to say, very disappointing.
If we don’t get a start out of Clark or Lees then we struggle, fair play to Turner and O. Robinson good batting effort but it shouldn’t be up to the middle order to build an innings.
No criticism of L. Robinson on his debut, he looked reasonably pacy, other than that the bowling was poor and the fielding also left a lot to be desired.
Good summary.

I was disappointed with De Leede and Parnell should find his grandad’s band and join them!

Disappointed today
Our power play was poor and we never got going until Robinson and Turner got it together.
We didn’t Play the last couple of overs. Very well and why Trevaskas came in ahead of Raine is beyond me
Why didn’t Turner bowl?
The game was clawed back and then tossed away by bringing back Trevaskas back on to bowl Him and De Leede are the weak bowling links

No criticism of the young lad on debut who took 2 wickets who dId well and Only went for 9 an over
We shouldn’t be getting beat by Leicester

Think we lost both powerplays today. For me that was the difference in the end. Great effort by Turner and Robinson to claw our way back but we had a big off day with the ball. Dont wish to nail De Leede to the mast but his bowling is really poor and coupled with the consistent leg side wides the hierarchy have to make a change here. A very good season so far but disappointing today in front of a decent size crowd. We move on !

Our form continues to be shocking mind. We are currently going to lose more games if we don’t sort the bowling out first 6 overs.

Northamptonshire apart it’s been dreadful and I really do not get the point of the Parnell signing he has served utter dross so far.

Top of the championship and well clear at that

top four of the T20

we beat Lancashire with three World Cup winners in the previous game

those things are reality

T20 is a lottery. Unbeaten worcester lost at home to second bottom Northamptonshire

I thought Leicester gave us a very good example of what power play bowling and fielding should look like. Their bowlers executed their plans well, were backed up with some really sharp fielding and we struggled to combat it today. Our top three haven't struggled like that before in this season's T20. I kept expecting them to throw off the shackles, but it just didn't happen today. The only reason we got to 40 was courtesy of some poor keeping from Swindell letting two balls fly through to long stop and his missed stumping of Lees was comical

We really can't afford to continue being this profligate when bowling in our own power play.

For all that, it was the first time I've seen Luke Robinson bowling and he looked the part. He was poorly served with some dire fielding or his figures would have been even better than they were, and they were decent enough. Was this his senior debut?

As always.... thank goodness for Ollie Robinson.

In Robinson we trust

(Kent must have been stark staring mad)

Yes that was his senior debut today.

As Leicestershire won the toss and put us in, with thick cloud cover above, I wonder if batting conditions were difficult early on? When the sun started to break through our batting improved. So maybe Leicestershire had the better batting conditions and pushed home their advantage, anyway they deserved to win. That aside it was a poor performance and has undone all the excellent work we did on Friday. Very frustrating.

Durham are flying, Leicester have played 5 and lost them all…

TRAP GAME

How Durham would it be to lose this one?!
...
Watched them since 1977 ish.Minor Counties and Gillette/Nat West cups.Supplied the seating for the early first class games. Was on rope duty with Tom Flintoff at the end of the Lancs Sunday League match on the Big Meeting field in 1992.Unofficial skip of the LMC team.👍

Not seen a ball bowled today so won't comment on the Leicestershire game but personally i think we are doing ok in this t20 campaign.
Lets be honest we have had much stronger starting XIs than this and not been any better in the past 20 years.
I can only think of Trevaskis of the proven t20 performers from the past few years who hasn't put a performance in yet. But when he has played for the 2nds he has looked a class above the other players.
Just watched the head coaches post match interview and he mentioned the bowling in the power play not being good enough. Also looked like he was off to a Stone Roses gig tonight.
