T20 :: Durham v Derbyshire

I don’t like to see any football hats, badges or shirts at cricket matches or any other non football sporting events.I don’t see any reasoning behind it.As for chants……ffs !!!!! Go to watch Durham, support Durham and wear Durham’s colours.

I agree, the only place I can get away with it is England supporters at away Tests.
Let people wear what they want it really doesn't matter

I don’t have the power to stop them. Just like I don’t have the power to stop you picking unnecessary fights on here.

I can give my opinion though.

What unnecessary fights judging people on what they wear for a event is ridiculous

Common sense at last. Excellent post. We are doing bloody well. As I keep saying 3 wins in 14 last year. Plenty players missing and Clark & Raine also missing last night. The criticism of De Leede is a disgrace, didn't see these people (again also on social media) praising him earlier this week. Each to their own I guess but it won't help the lad at all. As for what some would prefer, I genuinely believe some would prefer us to lose, they're always out in force when we don't win this year, very quiet when praise is due. I know that view will trigger a few people but it's absolutely true and Bas De Leede is the prime example of what I'm saying
3 wins last year were all lucky as fuck too lets be honest, and we didn't even deserve to win that many.

Yesterday we didn't deserve to win for probably 25-30 overs, so a draw and a disappointment not to seal it is a really good result and shows great fight from the lads to pull it back in that manner.

Was this one lad in the trapdoor stand with his friend who was losing his shit at Bas before he even bowled a ball - disgraceful attitude really and shouting shit at him on the boundary before he's even bowled (especially after a MOTM Championship performance IMO at least) will really help the lads confidence. We need to be supporting our players and not harassing them - especially the young kids
Do you never critisise people that bowl poorly people can praise players when they do well and critisise when they don't it's how sport works
It's T20 mate - bowlers go for runs, it's part of a very one-sided game in favour of the batters. Sowter was bowling just as poorly for his first 3 overs yesterday too - where is his criticism?

Sowter is or was the leading wicket taker in the competition but yes he did bowl poorly the last 2 games over 14 games obviously it's going to happen de leede bowling has been poor nearly if not every game in this format, don't have to be for or against a player iv been critical of his bowling in this but I praised his bowling and batting against Glamorgan.
Calm yourself down. You’ve taken a throwaway comment and are trying to turn it into a fight - one I’ve no interest in pursuing with you.
I'm not I'm just saying why make the comment

Shouldn’t it work both ways? The point is that Bas has played well in the CC. He’s a young lad with little experience and learning his craft. There’s been no recognition of that.

It’s a question of balance. Sadly lacking on here occasionally.

Wonder if it was the same clown near me in the Trapdoor. When de Leede came on to bowl the 19th over and conceded a four off his first delivery I honestly thought he was going to have some sort of seizure along with claiming Bas should be nowhere near professional cricket.

He obviously wasn't at the ground against Glamorgan last week when he took two wickets with his first two deliveries and was the pick of our bowlers by some distance.

I praised him for playing well against Glamorgan and his bowling in T20 has been poor to say it's a disgrace for calling someone's performance poor when it has is a bit daft I agree there should be a balance.

Totally agree. Like I say the "Bas De Leede fan club" were very quiet earlier in the week yet people are losing their minds with the lad yet again during a game of T20 which at the best of times is an absolute lottery especially for bowlers.

I was more than satisfied with a draw last night, I don't think we were poor, but I don't think we were very good either and I think Derbyshire will say the same.

I thought Sowter bowled poorly last night but I'm not going to slaughter the lad, it happens especially in T20. Trevaskis went for 11 an over last night, not a peep of criticism. It seems Bas is the new boo boy for some "fans" which is unfortunate. Just a shame the praise isn't a quick for the lad as demonstrated earlier this week.

I've seen a lot of improvements from Durham in this format. Our game plan is easier to see, team selections can be varied unlike last year, some younger players have been given a chance instead of travelling the country carrying drinks and pulled out last minute for NEPL games. It's most definitely refreshing and I know the players feel the same, some even have spoken out in the media how better things are, thanking the coach etc.

The difference from last season is massive. I'm more than happy with that.

The players know the craic though

Don’t we criticise players when they play bad? I believe that was your words?

Just to the right of the ā€œkinkā€ in the trapdoor stand if it’s the same one. Sounds like it - left after the 19th over as I think his friend made him before he combusted 🤣
