T20 :: Durham v Derbyshire

town centre council car parks. cone terrace is usually canny

Agree with this. Don’t risk street parking. The angry mob will hunt you down. I heard of someone having their tyres let down at a recent T20. I noticed that the (probably unlawful) Residents Only signs are out on Ropery Lane yesterday.

Employing the ‘can’t be arsed’ attitude, I just pay the £3 and park at the ground. Fine if you’re not in a rush to get away, and the bars are still open if you fancy a drink and a bit post match analysis 😁

Those signs aren't enforceable but I've heard the residents keep a close eye out during the T20 games, they aren't bothered for the county games.

The only official enforcement area is Holmands Park which has permit zone signs up but the time of the evening T20 games, even those signs aren't enforceable as it's set times. Park of Holmands Park though is "no mans land" and the council can't ticket people. Holmands Park residents very nosey when a friend of mine lived in that street and allowed us to park their, albeit the land been "no mans land" owned by nobody.

When I'm with the wife for County Games I drop her off at the ground then go and park up (roadside parking) as I begrudge giving Durham Council any car parking money when they charge over £4 in the Riverside car park all day yet it's about £1.10 in the town car parks all day and even free on a Sunday, plus my council tax is a small fortune, fair to say I'm not a fan of them

Unfortunately I need to pick the kids up from my mothers after so I really can’t be arsed to be sitting in all the traffic at the ground

I usually print my e tickets out as the boys like to put them in their memory tubs but our printers knackered will the tickets and car park ticket on my phone be fine?

What's it like getting a drink during the game? Am I best off just getting a couple when I first go in?
should be fine, few extra bars on this season already, and they might open the bar behind the blue temporary stand if they expecting decent numbers.

Sticky Wicket has the most choice

Fantastic offer that, know a lad going from work who has never been to a cricket game before but is going cause it’s ‘arnly a quid!’. The more the merrier, good for the club to get a big crowd and hopefully a few decide to go back.
This is pretty much me, my interest with cricket as a whole is growing slowly over the years but this will be my first game, may just be the first of many. (Same for who I am coming with as well)

does anyone have any advice on where is best to sit? Looking for a nice spot for a couple of pints and a bit crack with my mate who I don’t see often whilst taking in some decent cricket hopefully. Tickets aren’t allocated seats as far as I’m aware so just wondering.

If you want to sit in the sun then it's The Trapdoor (Big blue seat stand) or the Co Durham (double decker stand next to old scoreboard).
If you prefer to sit in the shade then it's the Don Robson pavilion (you don't have to be a member to sit there). There'll be more fast food outlets on this side.

As far as viewing the cricket - from what I could see yesterday the wicket is going to be pretty much central.

Enjoy it!

Thank you very much.

I’m ginger and my mate tans like a Greek god so there might be a bit of debate on the old sun or shade choice🤣

Where’s best to park tomorrow? Planning on parking at the riverside car park but expecting it to be a struggle to find a space somewhere.

Thanks in advance
