T20 Blast Crowds

Aye, Blast is absolutely thriving, despite him mothballing it.

We’re also World Champions, but he’s downgrading the County One Day competition too........

I think I’m right when I say he wants to kill County cricket. In fact, I actually think he HATES cricket.
I f***ing hate him, old ****.

Wonderful crowd at The Oval tonight and already talk of record crowds around the country. Like at OT on Sunday against us and that followed a healthy crowd for our home opener.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it ;)
Got a couple of tickets for the Roses T20 at Old Trafford on Sunday. 3 weeks until the match but there was barely a ticket left, only 3 blocks had any seats and one of them only had 1. Last year's game was brilliant, think it was a last ball finish and around 200 a piece, Buttler, Root and I think Bairstow played. Took both my brothers who've never been to a cricket match and they loved it, atmosphere was brilliant.

3 hours of 'we all hate Leeds scum', marvelous ;)

With a large part of the Yorkshire support joining in

Time will tell but I really hope it is out of county loyalty that people turn up rather than a piss up as seems to be the case particularly in London but also at Headingley, albeit both in very different ways. If the majority of the T20 crowds genuinely love county cricket and refuse to change over to the Hundred shite for those reasons it will be perfect

It’s amazing what a new format and exciting cricket can achieve isn’t it?

If the powers of be went with the ain’t broke don’t fix it thought process, they would never have been T20 cricket in the first place and these wonderful crowds.

I seem to remember people calling it pjayama cricket, hit and giggle and not proper cricket.

Now its great and and wonderful crowds!!

How ironic!

Sometimes new ideas work as T20 has proven for the reasons you have just alluded too.

Do you come on here JUST to stir the pot by going against the majority? Seems you make quite a habit of it and quite frankly it’s very tiresome.

How can you say it’s just to stir the pot?

You know as well as I do I have been a big fan of T20 cricket from the very start and we had many a debate where you were calling it hit and giggle and not proper cricket.

The majority including your good self was against T20 and look how that has turned out?

I am all for increasing the longevity of cricket in this country not to stir any pots.

I happen to believe cricket needs new fans and new participation, it looks like T20 is doing that which is great, hopefully although no guarantee.the hundred will do the same.

Sometimes something new and innovative works like T20.

I find it quite contradictory your glowing report of T20 after your years of criticising it!

He's right in this case though.

And the ECB will delighted with the good crowds as the new aim is growth of the fan and player base.

Exactly I nearly replied to @GordonMuchallNo1Fan childish remark about the ECB seething with the good crowds.

They will be delighted, problem on here is too many hold grudges and old fashioned ideas rather than the longevity of cricket in this country.

Increase participation by cutting the number of teams and players by OVER half??

I’m still not overly keen on the way the T20 is ran, but I can admit that if it’s here for the betterment of the game and the counties then I’m happy for it to exist.

I cannot for the life of me see how The Hundred can be for the betterment of the game. We’ve already seen cases of tapping up, that will get worse and worse as time goes on.

Then there’s the financial benefit the counties who have teams will get over those who do not. It’ll be apocalyptic.

How are the likes of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire and even us cope without the money from T20 tickets sales and revenue, etc?

It's not a grudge at all. I've called them incompetent for many years, long before the Durham relegation. They have their 100 thing starting next year in hope of attracting "newer folk" at a time when we are world champions at the 50 over game they plan to de-value (great legacy eh?) And T20 blast crowds are on the rise... Another competition they intend to de-value. The worry for them has to be this new competition is a damp squib and judging by social media, very few are buying into it. Fuck them, I hope it fails massively. They haven't thought about a lot of clubs. They don't give a toss about county cricket either. I mean who schedules county cricket games on the day of the country hosting the world cup final.... Takes a special kind of breed to do something so stupid. They're massively incompetent and have been for years.

I am glad you see that T20 is working and crowds are following it and enjoying cricket, that’s the most important thing surely?

The deal the hundred has done with free to air tv is also a massive thing as well, which I am sure you will agree will bring cricket to more people and hopefully increase participation.

I am sure I read somewhere to get that deal with free to air tv, they had to come up with a new concept hence the hundred.

I really like T20 as you know, soo don’t necessarily want change myself, but I do think cricket needs participation to increase, whether the hundred achieves that is anyone’s guess, but at least they giving it a try which is a good thing in my book.

Tbh I am more concerned about the longevity and participation of cricket than Northamptonshire or Durham.

Of course I accept it’s easier for me to say that when not really connected or supporting a particular county, admittedly I would probably think a little differently if a fan of one of those counties.

I also as you know don’t see the ECB as public enemy number 1.

I was reading your points and taking them on board until I got to the point where you said ‘ fuck them I hope it fails massively’

I mean what kind of craic is that!

Sorry it’s that kind of childish small minded mentality that turns me off big style.

I could not care less about the ECB, just care about cricket!!
