Swindon Town 25/26 thread

The lasses team got beat 10-0 in the FA Cup

They are a very low ranking side.
Not many interested in them to be fair.
Who is doing the suspension records? Should be on a huge notice board so everyone knows!

Club maintaining they have evidence that Clarke could play.
Unfortunately I’m not confident. The player is not “suspended” he is “banned.”
If the authorities have made written confirmation then should be clear. I think the club may be relying on a portal statement thus in the scheme of things that is pure incompetence and will be banned.

On a positive I detest the competition and it’s a distraction. For the players though they have done very well it will be a blow to them.

Let’s hope one day Morfuni and his chancers fook off for good and the Club will rise again.

I can't comment on your first paragraph, at one time teams [all levels] would receive an FA paper version of who couldn't play games for a dated period with the reason.

I also totally concur with fans of a Club with realistic hopes for promotion that cup games get in the way, but you'd be surprised at the things players learn from the experience of playing such a no-win game against a very good side unless they get battered embarrassingly or pick up injuries. Don't forget there's always the hope of a shock and making a name if you get beyond Salford tomorrow because they'll be thinking the same. Which STFC fans should appreciate after your 1969 League Cup victory.

Just shows where we are right now on and off the field.
That was an awful game between 2 shite sides.
Absolutely pissed off.
I knew you were struggling with lack of player-availability but awful games are there to scrape something which you nearly did. Most of the rest are in a similar situation - it's nowhere near being over, just keep plugging away in such a tight division. Just make it count in the dog-eat-dog games because you're able to score a goal and as players get back from injury to match fitness you'll be in with a shout.

Today's oppo Bromley will falter, now it's Salford's turn to come on the rails.

Should have been 3 up first half but it turned into an awful league two hoof ball game.
They were shite thus shows what we were. Reliance on kids might turn out to hurt us.

Quite often experienced teams will do what Bromley did today to negate your end to end passing game, which is where & when experience comes into it to guide your "youngsters". When someone decides to make the game scruffy to unsettle a better footballing side by frustrating and dictating their own game it usually works against a young team. You've possibly seen that this year but from brief highlights I can't tell - what I did notice was use of a tall player centrally in your 18yd box which wasn't coped with & led to their winner - have I not seen that before when your keeper can't get to the ball? An in-game guiding influence is a big help to a young group of players in a tight division at every level. A few teams did that to SAFC to get a result.

Ever looked at your ticket and thought, I just can’t be bothered.
Today is that day, feel shit, club is what it is and travelling on your own is not much fun.
Heavy rain, strong winds and no heating. Could watch it on TV but I am trying to convince myself to actually go.
Getting older and slowly losing the bug, the constant kick in the bollocks just wears you down. Tough away fixture at Notts Country and the loyalty card is as thin as it has ever been before. Plenty of people to meet up with and I guess the lads need the support.
I know I will end up driving up but without it in the heart just makes it tougher.

I know plenty of you have been there before.

I'm really sorry to hear you feel like that but when the time comes it's sometimes right for the individual to say "ok, done my miles but my time, life & money would be better served elsewhere". It's a massive decision and you may feel differently in a few days but the only person that can decide is yourself. The Club was there before you and will survive without you. The more you "force" yourself from habit it gets worse.

You obviously have reasons beyond just watching your team due to ownership issues so that is something that may not alter while Morfuni is holding the reins.

I’ve got a ticket for Saturday and tbh can’t be arsed with the drive down.

The wheels have well and truly fallen off.
Simply second best last night. We now have a run of games against lower places teams although we look all over the place at present.

I'd been looking at whatyou had left and your games against the lower placed teams might give you what you need to get the confidence back up with results, you also have Clarke back. You're nowhere near out of it even if Notts (on the fringes) will take hope from last night, just stay in the frame and don't leave it til the MK or final few games.

We still look miles away from a promotion side.
That's obviously worrying as you go into Feb with a few other teams showing their intentions. Let's hope you aren't one of those that drop away (like last year's), it's about staying in the touching distance frame as the rivals compete - you have a decent fixture run from now so it's about making those winnable games count.
