Swindon Town 25/26 thread

From the 65th minute we were excellent and they were hanging on.
It’s unbelievable that we simply cannot start with that intensity. Down to Holloway I’m afraid and still tinkering. Sure we have injuries but play your best 11 and play players in their natural positions.
I can see us messing this season up.

Getting fed up with the first half performances in fairness. Woeful and Holloway is getting rattled by the fans.

Bristol Rovers at home next week and bringing 2,300.
If he can’t get the players up for that then we might as well stay put in this shite league for the 6th season. Yesterday I had enough.
You have it in your tank to be promoted but getting everything right at the same time is difficult so be patient (both you and IH). I can't understand the early game problem, it's a regular come from behind situation, See what happens v the gas.

On an aside note the fans need to be careful or Mr H will walk away.

Losing patience with him.He will walk if he doesn’t get us promoted I reckon.
The ownership however is the main issue holding the club back.

Ownership & management have to go hand in hand. If the time they don't has come he'll be off as most managers do in that situation. Either binned or call it a day, are any signs there? I can tell by his face & comments in interviews that he isn't enamoured by something.

Angry with his own shadow and keeps being critical with the fans.

Criticising your own club's fans is something few managers can ever escape from, it's tantamount to dismissing yourself. And one or two over the years have used it to their own benefit (i.e. pay-off settlement), Something just isn't sitting right, but exactly what?

On another related point: Has he lost the players?

I don’t think he has lost the players but they do look confused sometimes when he wants to change things.

If they're still putting themselves on the line for him & doing as he asks thats a good sign but with him being a "thinker" so trying different thigs at times it probably confuses a few if they're young, from abroad or not on his wavelength. I can imagine he rolls his dice frequently if pushed into a tight corner, when something works the players & fans will love him but if/when it doesn't the knives/critics come out. Football fans are an impatient lot as you probably know epecially when their team has injury or selection problems in a tightening promotion chase.

South Shields match off so find myself watching the Swindon v Oldham game on Telly....was a Premier League match up way back in 1992-93......

Oldham having the better of it but succumbed to a simple ball over the top down the left and knocked into the box where the young loanee had loads of room to bring it down well and slam it under the diving keeper. 1-0 Robins!!

Intrigued by a billboard saying Dirty and also wondering what the Match Day specials are at the Magic Chippy?
Match up 😞

Got a mate who's a swindon fan, apparently the lino was getting some shit from the swindon fans and she signaled 1-0 back to them

Poor Bastard.

And fell over and needed treatment. That will teach her.🤣
Holloway got a red, silly old twat.

What a difference to have more than 50 away fans and added to the atmosphere.
Our owners doing everything they can to ruin it by banning under 18’s in two sections of the home end.
Decent crowd of 12,383. The potential is there but we will never reach it. So frustrating and sad at the same time supporting this club with this owner racking up so much debt nobody will ever buy us.
Sold out at Crawley next week.

Here we go again.
At least it’s standing and we’ve sold out. The League is so poor and promotion and relegation still wide open.
If we don’t win today I believe the play offs will be our destiny. Get frustrated when fans keep moaning about loanees returning and injuries mounting. We are no different from any other club, in fact probably better off with our fanbase and revenue.
A sore subject when it comes to the ownership of this once great and proud football club.

Still love her to bits but She doesn’t look the same anymore. We used to have fun but now it’s all about the marriage vows and 80% feeling. The day every one of these blood sucking leeches and incompetent fools have disappeared it will be a day of hope and celebration.

Like every club we have a decent loyal hardcore. The faces and laughter is what gets you through.

Rolling into Marylebone and time for a breakfast and early pint. A long day and will make sure we have a laugh.
As a 3pm who knows. The day is always better when you win.

Come on you useless red and white bastards. Holloway stop being clever and play players in their natural positions and ffs stop playing this route one negative shite that you are dishing up. We were decent when we were pressing and passing.
What do I know?
Just another day on the road (train).

You redssss.

You've got it right there. I'm not convinced it's only the play-offs for you. As you've posted it's such a turbulent ever changing division so it's about doing the things that work best to collect the points.

IH may be being forced (injury etc) to play players out of position but if he's doing it for some other reason. He may also think you get caught out with the press & pass game.

I'd also suggest you see enough games to raise valid opinions that should be considered.

Either way have a good day 🍺+ 3 points.

Load of shite.
We are miles away from a promotion side.
You've answered my next question, but why? What's missing? A style of play that the players can't do well enough, players not mentally strong or good enough when the pressure is mounting? Swindon aren't out of it but have other teams worked you out to get a result? Some of your football (that I saw) earlier was untouchable at L2 level so I thought you'd get stronger but it's going the other way.

Down to Holloway. He has lost the plot.
Reckon the pressure has got to him. Constantly angry and edgy and reckon it is transferring to the pitch, keeps tinkering and playing players out of their natural positions.
We are a million miles away from where we were.
No idea as to the formation or our style anymore, other than when Palmer plays we just take aimless punts up the field.
We were good when we were a pressing, high energy side. Not seen that in a few months.
We won’t win the play offs, that is if we make them.

There's only one man that has full responsibilty for on-pitch events, if the players are confused with what is or isn't being instructed game by game their heads will drop which usually results in goals being conceded. I wondered whether the Morfuni situation in general was having an effect - either with IH or other backgound issues but I'm surprised your game has gone to the aimless punts with runners lottery after you had a decent controlled possession game.
I note you've picked up a couple of hamstring injuries [ref: Swindon Advertiser]: When sh*t happens, it really happens with Swindon before important games. I assume/hope Aaron Drinan is available for the weekend because it's now become massive for the outcome of the season and he's your matchwinner.

Seeing as Clarke is probably out you may now go back to trying to play football?
