Swindon Town 25/26 thread

I know you are Sunderland Mate.
Which second division team does @ManPlanet follow.

Unfortunately was never an XTC fan.

Sunderland 100% my team of course. But I live down in Bedford and my teenage son works at MK Dons so I am there most weekends as his designated driver!

Missed the boxing day game though annoyingly. Did you go? Sounded like two decent sides who were both missing key attacking players.

Yes I went and closer than Swindon for me.
Not much in it and still think with your budget and investment any team that finishes above MKD will get an automatic spot.

A cracking stadium.

It is a great stadium but too big for them really. It makes decent L2 crowds (7-9k) look sparse and can be hard to generate real noise as everyone is so spread out.

There have been a few owners/chairmen with ideas/dreams above the reality when creating a new stadium, in time the team may generate a larger fanbase but if not it becomes a financial noose around the club's neck that impacts their running, spending & future.

Yeah there was - 1.2k or something? Great effort.

1800
Just back from Gym and all the players were in there doing S&C.

Hope they are a bit more lively for you tomorrow @Swindon On Tour as they weren’t risking any strains by looks of it 😂

Walking wounded.
We are down to the bare bones with a few on the way back.🙏
Injuries piling up and lost another today. Squad being stretched but every player doing a superb job.
That was a hard fought win today and at 1-0 we rode our luck a few times with long throws and corners. Keeper made a few decent saves.
Another cracking win and a decent crowd.

Keep on racking up those points. Teams continue to take points off each other.

Walking wounded 2 Gills 0 today 👍, MK (your "concern" due to their spending power) got beat again. Some teams, squads & managers can usually get a result when it counts. Bromley are the ones to worry about for the title; they've quietly pushed themselves into the top end with some consistency after being not-good a few months back.

Harrogate v Swindon off tomorrow.
Good News with injuries and that long drive.
Nice to see that an early decision has been made which is in the best interests of all concerned, not least the travelling fans, as from experience there is nothing worse than setting off in anticipation only to be informed the match has been called off on route.

Coincidentally I remember travelling down to Swindon on 2nd January 1995 for an Endsleigh League Division One fixture which was postponed at lunchtime on matchday due to fresh snow and a frozen pitch, despite it being playable the day before.

The only downside I suppose is that Harrogate for you (as Swindon was for us) is a long way to travel to in midweek for the rearranged game and would potentially require a stopover. On the plus side there are worse places to spend a Tuesday evening and I can heartily recommend the Premier Inn in the Town Centre if you are seeking lodgings for the night.

Finally a belated Happy New Year mate, hope it’s a good one for you, the family and your football team. Ha’way the lads 😀

Same to you my friend.

Hoping the Salford FA Cup game goes ahead Saturday with the weather.

Credit Holloway for achieving during 2025 no back to back losses.
That shows some team spirit and resilience. A few coming back from injury as well and a few replacement loans to freshen it up.

All about the League though. However want to get a big away day in Round 4 that’s if we can get past a tough game at Salford.
Will have a decent following.

I was thinking that about your cup game going ahead because you don't want to get into a rearranged league fixture back-up getting in the way of the promotion chase. managing injuries is also a major balancing-act point.

But as per your last line the possibilty of a decent pay day will be a main point on the club's agenda - the Salf tie could be won by either and I can easily see it going to penalties.

Booked later trains thinking pens are a strong possibility.

Trains all cancelled today through Midlands to Manchester.
Mine leaving at 7:57 from Banbury in the Morning and just hoping they are running then hoping the game is on.
More worried about the trains in fairness.😞

Ffs why we do all this for a poxy game of football.
Game off.
Ffs wasted train tickets and game tickets.
Lad back at Uni Sunday and would have been a decent day out.

You will be getting withdrawal shakes to games in a row cancelled.

That bloody game does these things. But what else would you have done with the spare time & money? (If anyone is going to respond keep it clean please.)

Over the years I think we've all been in that boat.
