They arent pulling down the three towers,or have i missed something?
No they are not, at the moment, it's the three in the East End that are being looked at for demolition, However the direction of travel is clear, at least to me, following Grenfell. Council's, Housing Association's etc. consider the risk of older tower blocks too high, or the costs to bring them up to standard too high. There is a move away from these older tower blocks and I can quite easily see a point where the three in the centre do come down.
I should have been clearer about that in my post.
I was just looking at, thinking about, the potential development land available in the centre, IF, Jackie Whites and the Towers were demolished
Apologies for any confusion.

Good idea, not sure what you could do with jacky whites tho, need the road access at back for shops etc.
Pull the shutters down
The access road isn’t affected

Those towers and the bridges shopping centre are all integral
Did you watch the Kirsty mcoll thing the other night
There’s a bit that shows some youths messing around on a concrete high level walkway
I’m sure that old walworth way and the bit that used to over look the market square toilets
I’m sure that footage is often used to show kids in late 70s early 80s

At 6:22 you can see the clock outside of the toilets

I think that clip is down boro or Peterlee. You're right it's been shown a few times but don't think it was Sunderland

Good to see the culture quarter so busy yesterday and the graduation ceremonies are on all week.

@1more

Good to see the city centre so busy on Friday night yesterday pre and post match and I'd imagine today will be busy today for Mothers Day
Everywhere was still busy even in the nicer and more chilled part of town last night (theatre area) even at close to 10pm. Loads who’d obviously been to the match still out because I saw plenty colours on show. Good to see because years ago at that time of night it would be starting to die off round there while the young uns pile out to the likes of Vine Place and Park Lane for that to takeover as the busy part of town, but it all seemed to be last night. Loads of people heading up Green Terrace as we left as well. Was a nice atmosphere as well, no edge which you can sometimes get in town/city centres at that time on a Saturday night.

Might be a stupid thing to say but I think the theatre area needs a taxi rank. It will keep people in that area longer

Aye I can see the logic in what you’re saying tbh. Already got a couple of ready made lay-by type areas along that stretch as well. While the Green Terrace one is just around the corner and is miles more civilised than the Park Lane one, it can still get pretty lively and around that area so some of the older quieter crowd could be put off by going and standing in it and therefore head home earlier before it gets too lively for them.
