*~*~* Sunderland v West Brom match thread *~*~*

Let's face it though we haven't played class football all season, nowhere near the exciting stuff we played under Mowbray. Even before this crap run these last few weeks we were not winning convincingly. We've maybe dominated 2 wins all season.

Now our goals have dried up a bit, especially with Mundle out, we aren't scraping wins. Teams who get automatic promotion have goals, depth, experience, I think we are lacking in all three right now. I mean when was the last time the youngest team in the league gained automatic promotion? It would be quite the feat.

We have to sign some experience at this level in January, stop signing injured players, stop signing young foreigners who won't make an impact. Hopefully we can get another premier league loan winger to replace Roberts, we need more threat from the right wing. We definitely need an experienced holding midfielder to pull the strings and set the pace.

Still a long ways to go this season. People are acting like the other teams at the top won't hit similar, if not worse, slumps this season. An unbeaten slump isn't the end of the world. Hopefully Friday can be a turning point but again not going to decide our season!

We're very difficult to beat and I think we will at the very least be top 6 this year. And we know how teams who are difficult to beat usually do in the playoffs over 2 legs...

Seriously, what can you do when a team comes and puts 11 men behind the ball. Very hard to break down, top teams have the same problem. Lots of huff and puff, didn’t get it down the wings enough for me.
Shoot waist high from outside the box not ower the bar every time.

We don’t create enough … the zip and intensity has gone. Starting well and fading will happen with young players. Our brilliant start has vanished. Play offs is a minimum but was hoping for more. Need to get our mojo back fast.

Expected a draw. WBA well organized. Not particularly disappointed.Would play Mayenda from start on Friday instead of Watson.

Maybe keep Alese on instead of Luke as well, not that to Luke played badly but Alese is more athletic..and quite good....

Not expecting much at Sheffield, being a realist. a draw will be a bonus

I think Alese will play ahead of Ballard. Hoping that Cirkin will be back otherwise it's a massive case of false economy.

It wasn’t a bad performance like mate and you can see why West Brom will be up there. We just have to find a way. Rigg’s was the chance but it was cracking defending tbf
We had some good chances and a few times they got lucky cutting out a quick pass or us being a toe end away from getting onto a square ball,

TBF West Brom played well. We've seen similar performances away from home from ourselves, grinding out points away from home.

At fuckin last.
I thought I was watching a different match to most of the comments on here man.
We dominated the game against 11 men stood in their own box for 90 mins.
Marginal off side goal rightly disallowed, but they couldn't get out of their own half man.
The lads worked so fuckin hard and it just didn't happen for them.

Ffs fellas.
well said marra. Some fuckin goons on here man…

Credit to West Brom, they came for a draw and got it. If we're to beat sides that set up defensively then we need to do much more than pass A to B. There was no willing runners from midfield (even though we had 3 in midfield) and our wing play is so predictable.

Expect Sheffied Utd to be going for our throats so we should see some gaps in play that could be exploited, but we need to be doing more of we're serious about challenging for one of those top 2 spots.
