*~*~* Sunderland v Swansea match thread *~*~*

I wonder what system the manager is working on for our play off matches.
Hopefully this isn't it.

Anyway, the pitch looks lovely and there's no rubbish blowing around (except for the lads lolzzz).
Clearly we are using these matches as a pre season spell before the play offs. Hence the rotation and young players starting…

This is about fitness and conditioning, not about trying to rip every team a new one and risk further injuries to a thin squad.

How people can’t see that I don’t know

We've been playing like this for months and months now.

Not sure why every week people see it as some sort of surprise.

I know the reaction I'll get for mentioning xG, but the xG table has us 10 points worse off and in that fight with several teams for a playoff spot.

A few very lucky results in comparison to our performances at the start of the season have given us the cushion but it's been pretty desperate for a significant amount of time now.
You could argue that West Brom last weekend was extremely fortunate as well and we could have had no complaints if we had lost on Tuesday night.

Even the ref is playing at walking pace. Terrible way to prepare for play offs this and could bite us on the arse massively.

Fans now getting very frustrated in the ground too.

lame excuse

Selection today was okay, Tuesday it was shocking.

He spends every game with his hands in his pockets, then tells us how it was interesting when we lose. Says we’ll learn from it, when the evidence suggests the opposite.
He could wave his arms around and tell reporters the players need to fight for the shirt. That should do it.

We have not looked any good since October

I think we were good against Sheff Utd, won an open game against Boro.

Every other game we’ve been shocking to watch.

We’re supposed to be building momentum and the entire crowd is on the players backs. That’s down to RLB.

But surely on Tuesday you realised it was because he was resting players? We've got a long injury list, whilst trying to manage players with injuries and others who are returning after being out.

Across the room my wife is watching her team winning 4 nowt, playing with intensity and passion and the fans going nuts. And I’m left to watch this shite

In 6 games time this lot are gonna have to try and win some playoff games.

We’re so far off it, it’s scary. Anyone excusing it is nuts.
Performances 6 games before the play off games are neither here nor there. The only time to complain is if and when this level of performance happens in the play off games. Over the next 6 games we will see Le Fee start, Mundle back in, Jobe back in, Cirkin back in etc. This is piss poor but its easy to see how and why the peformances are lacklustre imo. Its only then that counts - you can twist to your hearts content then.
