*~*~* Sunderland v Stoke match thread *~*~*

I can’t believe they had 10% more possession. We absolutely dominated it.

Yeah we can point fingers at finishing etc but we got there in the end. We know we’re on a bad run, so do the players. While we’re all panicking thinking it’s happening again I’m sure they are too. With the conditions and the monkey on their backs it’s almost understandable. That wins important. Hopefully they kick on from here.

Watson MoTM

Neil had an excellent game on and off the ball. Jobe was everywhere. Roberts second half seemed to click. Started going outside more and using his right and we were a better team for it.
Ironically, he's got a decent right foot, but clearly he hasn't the confidence to go with it.

Yeah mate you started making stuff up because I called you out on slagging Roberts off. He had a very good first half.
I stated my opinion that he wasn’t playing well.

What have I made up?

You started getting angry because I didn’t agree with you. Calm down.

Thank god for that. We deserved it but we look a bit clueless going forwards at time. There is a player in Isidor but he was off it today and we need to take chances if we are going to convert draws into wins.

Huge and winnable game Tuesday. Freshen it up with Cirkin, Meps, Mayenda starting. It’s a weak league this is the best chance we’ll get especially given if we don’t go up we may well lose a few of our better players.
A few good balls played into the box from both wings but nobody in the middle to get on the end of them.

Hopefully that puts and end to the frustrating run we have been on. Few teams go through a season without experiencing such a run of results and maybe we've had ours. Sometimes all it needs is a late scruffy goal to get a team going again. We do have lots of skill in this team.

(Remember a late winner from Mel Holden against Bristol on a brutal Friday night in 1977 after a dozen games without a goal..maybe we'll now score 16 in the next three.)

Never give up. Momentum is a wonderful thing.
