The new Brent Cross station also involved moving tracks, building stairs, lifts, esculators, platforms, all while working next to a very frequent railway which couldn't be closed easily. It's a very different beast and I'd expect it to cost much more aswell. Really not comparable.

Not difficult, but costs money. They just went for the very cheapest option here and people are happy because it's an improvement on what it was.

Finished or not, 27 million pounds for what to me looks like a car showroom. Is this like those bars that open with a "million pound" refit and everybody knows it's a new carpet, paint and a bar top. Yes it is an improvement but pulling the old one down was an improvement. Too many people saying its dull, what is to meant to be, for those people to be ignored. Why not have the official opening when it was complete instead of jumping the gun. Not one bit of colour, artwork and even the chairs look lost. Not going to judge it until completely finished but hope there is something that can drag this out of the world of dull.

It's going to link the sheepfolds area to the city centre. Not just the sol but the new housing and stables. If the arena happens there will be a direct line from sol and hotel to arena with cultural quarter in between. That will open up more investment than one building will.

In part yes, through the European regional development fund but that was allocated to the development corps like one north east…….who had the say where the money was spent

It’s why when this regional devolution occurs we need legally binding guarantees all the money won’t be focussed in one place

The money is shared out fairly across the region

I have no idea but I've always thought shutting lanes on the bridge isn't great. Also adds another pint for me so well worth the money
