We have more top 3 finishes in the top league but I forgot football didn't exist prior to 1992 :lol: My point about the Premier league still stands in the last decade Sunderland were a fixture whilst Newcastle were relegated twice. :lol:

We were talking about the premier league though. I am well aware of history. Do you think anyone cares who won the most leagues at the beginning of the last century? We’re talkjng about how well known the two clubs are now in Europe. The premier league is massive, and it’s only since its advent that english football is broadcast around the world with such ubiquity

Having lived abroad for the past four years living in three continents I find that most people who've asked me have heard of Sunderland only because of the football team. They don't have a clue where Sunderland or Newcastle is. They just know they're in Northern England somewhere.
