Sunderland music thread

Big Country were quality at the Fire Station tonight.

Nice touch Bruce Watson saying one of the best nights of his life was when they played at Roker Park supporting David Bowie.
Saw them a few times - last time at The Point if memory serves me right. Great live band such a distinctive sound. Glad you enjoyed it mate.

Hope Big Country come back and do the crossing eventually, still don't like the singer but I drowned him out with my unique singing voice ,sure people were over the moon next to me

I wasn't much better. Some notes to hit on Steeltown songs was my excuse. I actually thought he sang really well last night. Seen them loads in last 40 or so year and do miss Stuart, but I think Gil does a fine job.

Think you mean Simon? Not bad really
Just listening to them at Rockplast in Essen 1986 gig
Sensational

Lol aye. When I first seen him years ago I wasn't sure at all. Mike Peters I seen once but really think Simon has done well . Tough songs the Steeltown ones . Great night anyway and Bruce just gets more mental . Considering he was a skinny little bairn when I seen them early 80s.

Is the Flying Boat going to get regular bands on then? Walking distance to me, so might tempt me in more.

Cheers mate , they normally on 2 hours or more , might call in at 4 then over to botanist to get my pants pulled down
I’d guess they’d finish about 5. Last twice I’ve dodged straight across to the Ivy House for Toxic starting. Not partaking today, but two gigs back to back mean getting canny drunk like.

Where do you get these listings from mate?

He looks a various venue Facebook pages & websites. It’s not a copy & paste job. He puts quite a bit of work into doing this for us.

It’s greatly appreciated too.

Thanks for those kind words yea mainly FB and a small percentage from some other sites it is indeed time consuming particularly when venues advertise their gigs late.
