Beer at Poprecs isn't! Choice of decent, fresh Vauxie's ales @ £5/5.50.
Pop Recs is easily my favourite venue these days. The thing was obviously built to cater for gigs. Both Michael Head & Life commented mid gig how good a venue it is, that’s coming from touring musicians who’ve played more venues than we could imagine.

Unfortunately at Life they didn’t have Black Wave on.

Wonder if they could set the bar up next door in the cafe area? Would stop a bit of a bottle neck at the back with people entering the building & hitting the bar queue straight away.

Good night at Pop recs Saturday . I thought support band edged it over Slug . Good set ,great sound . Good beer etc . Bar staff a but full of themselves .
You go in a new place a few pints to the wind and get to the bar and there's no fridges or lines of logos
So you say what we got we got mate? and you get a sort of school teacher look and point to some info on the wall behind. The cans and bottle offering and shown on a shelf 8 feet up the wall or whatever too
Great place never the less

Totally disagree about the bar, although wouldn't know about the cans and bottles info.

The info about the draught ales and lagers they have is detailed and clear - type/strength/price and having them numbered makes ordering much easier than having to shout some daft name while Slug are hammering away. Usually very little queuing as well.

I don't know where you go to most of your gigs but having that kind of choice and quality in a venue is a luxury in my book!

i'm not having a go at any of the beer offered just the look i got from not being down with the set up they have
There's a board like you mention in the tap room ,not that i knew Vaux did the bar in there
The draft offering on saturday was on a smaller sort of poster on the wall handwritten behind them .
Small criticism thats all

Mind, I was at a gig at Cobalt Studios last night and I think we were the only ones drinking. Decent pint too (Hickey The Rake).
That motown covers band sounded canny in the peacock yesterday. Only heard one song, but what a song(what's going on-marvin gaye). They covered it really well

I thought they were excellent and will definitely be looking out for them in future. I was expecting a club type band with a lass singing the hits for some reason but they were cool as fuck.
Only saw the 1st set as had to go to watch the skunks get beat in Fitzies (the roar from Tilly's when Pope got sent off stopped me in my tracks!) but Papa Was A Rolling Stone was tremendous, and even the bit of Style Council they squeezed in sounded great.

Has Lucas recorded anything recently? Well over a decade since that excellent solo album. Pleased to hear he's still making music.

I don't think he's recorded anything recently but he performed some quality new songs last week at Pop Recs.

You're right Strange Glory is class album.

My favourite track from it.
