Sunderland murderer

I've been looking into a murder that happened right outside my house on Thursday 11th July 1958. Willis Grundy worked at the South Shields NCB offices and was having an affair with a typist, Florence Green. Apparently she called off the affair and got back to her husband. They were waiting outside at the bus-stop outside my house when Grundy pulled up in his Zephyr and shot her twice. He also brayed the husband on the head with his pistol.
He drove off and was later found dead from a head wound at his home - Carly Lodge in Southwick.
I've put this info on another website and it was amazing the reaction, a woman contacted me to say she was the sister of one of the witnesses - Mrs Smith - and they incident really affected her throughout her life (she died quite young). I'm getting her a copy of the newspaper article so she can show her family. Someone else came on and said that they were interviewed by the Police as they were passing on the way down to the beach and had heard the shots.
Has anyone got an info on the Sunderland connection? Does Carly Lodge still exist for example?

Hi, not sure if you are still interested in information relating to the murder but I am the granddaughter of Willis Grundy. My mother Norma was his daughter and only child. Willis was married to Cynthia Norah. Yes, they did live at Carley Lodge, Carley Hill, Sunderland, but are originally from this area (Notts). From what my mother has told me the land was sold to make a housing estate and the lodge turned into flats. If you need any more info please contact me.

Born and raised around there. Never ever knew about this. Obviously way before my time though...

The bus stop Erskine side or the 1 on the Beach Road side?

I have some more newspaper articles (copies - some not good quality) of this incident, if you'd like them.
