Sunderland murderer

I've been looking into a murder that happened right outside my house on Thursday 11th July 1958. Willis Grundy worked at the South Shields NCB offices and was having an affair with a typist, Florence Green. Apparently she called off the affair and got back to her husband. They were waiting outside at the bus-stop outside my house when Grundy pulled up in his Zephyr and shot her twice. He also brayed the husband on the head with his pistol.
He drove off and was later found dead from a head wound at his home - Carly Lodge in Southwick.
I've put this info on another website and it was amazing the reaction, a woman contacted me to say she was the sister of one of the witnesses - Mrs Smith - and they incident really affected her throughout her life (she died quite young). I'm getting her a copy of the newspaper article so she can show her family. Someone else came on and said that they were interviewed by the Police as they were passing on the way down to the beach and had heard the shots.
Has anyone got an info on the Sunderland connection? Does Carly Lodge still exist for example?

Carley Lodge used to be a farmhouse type building but not on a farm. It's no longer there as theres now a residential home and a small estate.

Reminds me of something my old man stumbled upon while researching a family tree for a relation.

The place of death was listed as Durham Prison, when he looked further into it turned out he was one of the last to be executed there.

His mrs had left him for another fella and moved to Ireland. They came back to the north-east for Christmas and her ex got word of her being at a New Year's Eve party. So he got a gun and went and shot them both.
