Sunderland Hummel Equality Jersey

Not much if a fan of it. Can see the kids loving it though, which is the target audience for football shirts tbf.

On the equalities front. Do they do any offers for gay people to attract them more to the game? I'd imagine straight folk make up the vast majority of match going public. Rainbow laces etc is a good message but I think more needs to be done. It is said that gay people have the most disposable income so getting them to games could benefit the club financially.

Still gets used I think. Or certainly was even a couple of years ago. Plenty of relatively recent articles about it. Club should be doing much more to tap in.

That’s a bit mental. Can’t be offering people of a certain sexuality cheaper tickets 😂

Bollocks, these types of showings do more to segregate the groups they’re fighting for inclusion. It’s a minority that discriminates and will never be eradicated. People just want to follow a football club man, not a protest organisation. I’ll call out discrimination when I see it and bring my kids up in the right way to do the same. That should be enough in my eyes.
There’s politic in everything. Do you approve of tge politics of our Saudi friends or is that irrelevant?
Discrimination still exists and won’t be completely eradicated but the ability to be discriminatory without consequences has certainly been emboldened in recent years. I’m pleased there remains opposition to that. It’s a lovely shirt and a positive message. What’s wrong with that?

Especially not if it’s actually because that demographic have more money than others. That certainly wouldn’t be equity.

You laugh buts it's proven. Less likely to have families etc. Plenty of articles about it.

Dont see why not as a way in. But doesn't have to be cheaper tkts, but other ways to attract/incentify.

The same sort of points and counter points are being made in equal volume on Facebook ( and probably X).
The difference being that members of the LGBT+ community are giving their views, which is interesting.
The bottom line seems to be that “you can’t do right for doing wrong”, but I really hope the club took good advice on this initiative.

What advice should they have taken? "Dont do anything to promote LGBT because it might upset socially conservative supporters who hate difference of any kind"

I rarely buy or wear footy tops as its a young persons game but i bought the poppy top out of respect to our heroes of the past and i would love to have bought the rainbow top(if they had not sold out) just to piss off the luddites in our fanbase and i think that incontinent walking anus Barton has done wonders for Hummels sales! TBH i think that Hummell have cottoned o to the nostalgia bandwagon and most things with a ship badge on it will sell out especially if its a limited edition!

No, way off, I mean advice from the LGBT+ community or their representatives.

A number of comments from members are saying that they have not asked for such support. Some feel patronised.
The discussion on a broader based platform, than this one, is perhaps more informative.
