Conspiracy theories come from a desire to find simple solutions to complex problems and developments. Don't understand how the pyramids were built? Clearly a lost advanced civilisation had similar technology to our own. Don't understand how the moon landings happened? Clearly they were faked and done on earth. Don't understand the changing modern society? Clearly it's a cabal of elites manipulating everything.

I wish the world was as simple as conspiracy theorists like this believe, it would make solving problems an awful lot easier.
