Theatre bars (not just the Empire) take advantage of the captive audience and in my experience the quality of drinks and service is terrible .
better off going to one of the nearby pubs for a drink before/after/during the interval
Yep you can dash out in the interval and easily drink 2 double vodka and cokes and have a much more comfortable wee (so I’ve heard)

It's by far the best theatre in the Northeast. Seems to sell tickets well regardless of the lack of media support.
