Sunderland Empire

I've never had any bother with the raucous people there.
Go maybe 2 or 3 times a year but even when seeing the likes of Kinky Boots ( went with wife and MIL) there were no real scenes.

I do tend ( like this week) to go Thursday nights If I can

Back in the day I saw the Dubliners twice in ten days at The Wexford Inn in Dublin and at the Sunderland Empire.

Cracking memories.

I think that’s what we will be doing going forward or the Saturday matinee - such a shame as couple sat next to me had come from Corbridge and said they’d never come back

I think a part of the problem is that there'll be a small percentage of dafties at jukebox musical shows like Tina, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You etc who don't have a clue what they've paid to see. They'll think it's just a fancier, more professional version of the shite tribute acts they go to see down at the local club.

They'll come down fully expecting it's just a night out getting shit faced and screeching out some songs with their equally shit faced mates. They have no idea that it's actually a play with a narrative, characters, quality acting etc that just so happens to have songs in it.

Such a shame for the 90% of the audience that aren't acting like tits, not to mention for the poor performers grafting their hearts out on the stage.

Certainly the first 15 minutes or so where they’re having dinner the sound didn’t carry back to upper circle that well ( we booked late so limited choice of tickets)

Saw that a while ago up here In Glasgow, great play, but what I remember most was a great set.

We have just been to see Ghost Story at the theatre Royal. If it comes to the Empire I would recommend it. A good laugh, a few bumps in the night type frights a bit clichéd, a great set.

Go see it if it's coming.

There's 2.22 A Ghost Story on in September. Is that the same production?
