Could argue Beardsley was the type of player. It got to the point where we thought we were too good for him. Imagine having that standard back?!
 
Looks like it’s gone tits up anyway but there was very little to get excited about based on that interview. To say he doesn’t particularly excel at anything and take that as being indicative of a good player is a bit odd.

At his relative level, McLauchlan was as competent as Bardsley. One a solid and steady away top flight player, the other a a solid and steady away third flight player.
