Sunderland AFC U21s

Rigg was the best player on the pitch I was told with Sohna a close second.
Fair enough and encouraging. What I was saying was Spellman got two assists and looking at the clip they both looked like real quality assists. That is what he is there for and so well done to him. He's only 19 and has only played non-league so maybe has a lot of head room to develop. Let's hope so as right round the country there will be the odd gem to be found in non-league.

Ellis Taylor is also 19 and on loan at a league 2 club there is a sheer gulf in standard between him and Spellman. Brandon Taylor, Owen Gamble, Jake Hackett all played for us around that age in some form in the last few years and the highest level they are at now is the northern league, most of our academy players are there to make the numbers up. The new lad from Burnley will be the next one to be with the first team along with Rigg.

I get all of that and, to be fair, you bang this drum pretty constantly. All I am suggesting that Spellman did well against Norwich with 2 quality assists and deserves credit. It may be that although you have written off Spellman the club may seem some potential that you haven't spotted, as unlikely as that may be.

What a terrible indictment of Stewart Donald's reign - there are only 2 of those listed who came via our academy set up. The rest have all been brought in after time at others academies. Lets hope in a few years time it is full of lads who have been with the club since they were young.
I completely get your point - but I think it is three isnt it? Bond, Richardson and Kelly
