Sunderland AFC remove box from Bradley Lowery Foundation on 15th birthday

This deserves a thread on its own not to get lost and merged in other threads. Out of all the actions they have taken so far this has to be the cherry on the top. Do Bia Sports Club require an induction into Sunderland AFC and the Community? They don't seem to get it.

Just said this in the other thread...
Imagine bringing this up in a meeting, "so we have this box that dying children use......."

Need to get the Bradley tifo out against Man Utd with a banner "remember who we are and where we come from" or something along those lines.

Big Tom isn't off to a good start

“It is sad to see the box go, as it really does mark the end of an era in Bradley’s name,” she said. “That said, I am incredibly grateful to everyone at Sunderland for continuing to support us in other ways. I’m really pleased that we can still offer a hospitality experience to families because over the years, it has been so special to see people who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity enjoy such an amazing day.”

The box is abit more of an enclosed environment for the kids though. It makes it more private - for what it costs it’s a drop in the ocean for the club. Baffling.

On the face of it, this is terrible.

What are the club getting out of it? 5 figures?

They're taking away the chance of experience, cherished memories, and something that was part of a legacy.

All for a few quid unless I'm missing something?

Thats called diplomacy. Its said they offered to buy the box but were rejected. Its also clear its a significant downgrade and likely not suitable arrangement for young ill kids.

I know I will get pelters, but I'm going to say what I think as respectfully as I can.

The Bradley Lowery Foundation has had an executive box, free of charge, for 10 years. The same charity will still be getting complementary hospitality in future, and enclosed spaces for some fixtures, which enables them to offer hospitality for 12 families a year apparently.

In a world where there are lots of people suffering, lots of great causes and lots of great charities, I think the club has done its bit, and is continuing to do its bit, for the Bradley Lowery Foundation. I don't think the club should be expected to offer a free executive box in perpetuity.

Would imagine a few may be in wheel chairs, not sure how accessible the area is but the box must make it a lot simpler.

I hope you have a very thick helmet on...

No doubt the club will be utilising their social media etc. Before the away match v Everton with his name/image

By the sounds of it they offered to pay but it was sold before they had even the chance. Who knows really though

Terminally ill children who are Sunderland fans in most cases I’d imagine.

I’d give them it for the rest of time.

That’s it, likely not wanting to kick up too much of a fuss as the club will still be the biggest outlet for the charity. So, they need them on side still.

It’s minging behaviour from whoever is responsible.

She’s hardly likely to bad mouth them

It's minging but not surprising from people who sit at the top of these firms, they are ruthless and often only focused on their bottom line. Hopefully we can come together and make them see the massive error they've made.

Still breaks my heart when I see images and footage of Bradley, one of the bravest and most positive humans I've ever witnessed considering what he had to go through at such a young age. Hits even deeper now I've got my own little lad.

This.

Club seems to have lost its way recently but this is rank.

I'm cautious about getting offended on behalf of someone else, but can see it's a difficult one for the BLF.

That said, if something stinks - and there's already a pong emitting from that same source - we're all right to be suspicious of the mentality of the people behind this.

It's almost like they're trying to get as much bad PR out of the way in one fell swoop and then hope it'll all be forgotten.
