Anyone reckon we'll see a sub-20,000 crowd at home next season?

Recall 22,000 vs Watford at home in 2003 when Stephen Wright scored, and 22,000 when we beat WBA at home in 2006 with Keane in the stands (did Whitehead stick one in direct from a corner?!).

There is just so much apathy about at present I can see a sub-20,000 crowd, perhaps for a midweek game against someone with shite away support.

Yes, but my point is there is so much apathy about currently. I renewed without thinking after the 15 point debacle for example, but not renewing for next year.

There was far more apathy and disgruntlement at the end of the 15 point season. Crowds were a lot lower that season than this one for a start.

Crap manager, crap football so what you are hypothesising is not unreal.

Just in the cups. I reckon an average of low-mid 30's if we do go down, gradually increasing if we do well

The season after the 15 point clusterfuck had the quinny takeover though.

I think you are in for a disappointment mate. I foresee crowds starting at around 25,000, going up or down depending on results obviously.

Free tickets won't allow the attendance to be lower then 20,000.The club will not allow this season's average to be less than 40,000,hence the amount of free tickets going around.

I'll always go to home matches. Proving im fit and healthy and I have enough money.

I do think the general mood around the club affects a lot of people. There's been a stench of doom and gloom around the last few months. This affects some people and they think "Nah I don't fancy it" and even when the fans do turn up, we go a goal down, the crowd goes flat and it's pretty much game over. Southampton and Man City are recent games at the SOL that show that.

Filters down from the top and I have to say David Moyes is a big part of it.

In the Championship I think our average crowds will be in the mid 30s

I didn't say I was giving up going. I said I was not renewing.

Evening games are difficult for me and I have two young children that I'd like to do other things with of a weekend.

So a 3pm kick off on a Wednesday suits?

WTF..those 12,000 crowds at Roker in Dec 1972 were alright.

You could eat you pie in peace without a problem, no line up at the gate so you could sup an extra pint beforehand, no need to leave early for the bus and no fucker peeing downthe back of your leg cos they couldn't get through the throngs to the bogs.

Of course, then we had to go and draw at Man City in the fifth round and all the bedwetters came scurrying back.

Think that's harsh on some not renewing. It's not just bedwetters.

I've probably missed about 10 home games in the last 10 years in all competitions, usually due to illness or being out of the country.

I just don't enjoy it as much anymore and don't want to feel tied to the club of a weekend.

If you're not renewing then you can fuck off, you ****, same with the rest of you.

We'll still sell over 20k season tickets

Just teasing. They were never bedwetters...a term I hate anyhow.

No, there is this amazing undercurrent of support that just needs some passion to ignite. how the hell people keep turning up as they do these days ..probably the season ticket thing is some part of it..back in the day you could pick and choose. I always chose mind you.
