Stubbon Stubborn England

Durhamish

Midfield
That match was winnable yesterday. Easy batting pitch.

However England's constant pissing about of Morgan who hands down is our best 20/20 batsmen and there stubborness with perhaps the best batsman in the world KP will see us not win a game in the super 8's

Wright
Patel and Finn should be nowhere near the 20/20 side

Id go so far as saying Kiesweter too.

It's bizarre the way they have just imploded. Broad is never captain material, far too huffy and petulant. You get the impression as well that the team is full of yes men, other than Peitersen, who is at the other end of the scale. Our spinners dont really have a great deal about them, irrespective of where Swann is in the rankings. The likes of Ajmal and others as shown in this competition spin the ball miles or have enough variation to skittle us out. Nee way would say Patel and Swann skittle India.

We cant cope with sub continental wickets.

I think that the team has become way too complacent and some of them have an attitude on them. I've spoken before about Bairstow who went on like a right wanker up here at the Australia game after the match. Little Lord Fontelroy.

I know it's only twitter but you sense a lot of the young England lads have a bit of an attitude about them. Obviously it isn't concrete evidence but I feel a lot of them think they are lot better than they actually are and as it happens they have actually achieved very little in their careers so far.

ordinary fan got carried away by the media hype, some of the tripe on here was absurd.

We have one world class player in KP and thats it

Our recent success and ascent up the rankings has always been based on a solid team effort with various players performing at the top of their abilities rather than relying on one or two world class players. Also, I think with Colly as captain in the last tournament we had someone who inspired the rest of the players to perform. I like Broad but I don't think that's happening with him as skipper.

As for the squad, I think after this tournament there should be a clearout of those who are basically not good enough to play T20 at the top level (Patel, Bopara, Kieswetter for starters) and we should give some of the younger lads a chance to prove their worth. And get KP back in as along with Morgan he is our best player at this format of the game.

Missed what you said about Bairstow, got a link mate?

Nice big fat central contracts may be the cause of this. I'm not advocating a return to the 1990s as in the main, central contracts have been a big plus for some lads it may be too much, too soon and they get complacent.

Or we're just not very good (particularly in the sub-continent, never have been TBH).

totally agree. to be honest you're right about our spinnners and attitude anarl.

Just read this post the players you actually critise

Just read this thread the players you actually criticise are worthy of their place!

Bar keiswetter who has been poor for a while

Personally when everyone's fully fit, I'd go with Hales, Wright, Pietersen, Morgan, Buttler, Patel, Broad, Swann, Finn, Briggs, Dernbach.

Briggs and Finn opening the bowling, Dernbach at the death, Broad and Swann in the middle overs. Wright and Patel to bowl the odd over.

Maybe in a couple of years you can replace Patel with Borthwick.

I think you're a batsman short. Patel is not good enough to bat at 6. If you need a 3rd spinner KP could always bowl a few overs.

Fuck yes. He has every shot in the book, hits brilliantly down the ground and is a superb fielder

Hits brilliantly down the ground yeah one bounce 4 in 20/20 it will be caught. His strike rate is poor he doesn't rotate the strike well enough either, average in county 20/20 as well and doesn't have all the shots in the book fact.

England played Australia at Durham the other month and Bairstow was 12th man. after the game he came out of the main entrance like a bear with a sore head, blanked all the bairns wanting his autograph and went in the huff with the stewards because he couldnt negotiate the crowd control barriers to get to his car. Went on like an absolute wanker.

If KP doesn't come back I'd be tempted to play Prior at 3.

Prior should have been opening instead of Kieswetter.....hope he is in future.

we managed to get him to sign our programme, but you could tell he wanted to be elsewhere.

Cook/Trott were spot on mind.

So because he didn't sign an autograph for your bairn he's a huffy get and you don't like him. We've all had bad days and just want to get home, he was probably pissed off he didn't play
