Stuart poynter overseas pro?

Anyone know as far as Durham are concerned is he classed as an overseas pro with the new regulations regarding Ireland. I notice he has been playing T20 internationals for them this winter.

I assume that the overseas ruling only kicks in at the end of your contract. Poytner still has a year left on his contract.

Same reason we shipped out Barry McCarthy. Very unfortunate situation for them and needs addressing, as Irish crickets promising start will falter quickly. Poynter does have a British passport though, I’m not sure if this affects the process or makes him an adhoc Englishman like the Saffers that come over an dodge the overseas ruling

He has a year left on his deal then needs to choose between County Cricket and Ireland. His passport is irrelevant if he elects to play for Ireland.
