Striker crisis

Didn't we try to sign someone? I'm reasonably sure I read some piece about a striker who was about to sign but the deal was scuppered at the last minute.

It clearly did. The failure wasn't for lack of trying. We were in for Rodriguez, Ings, Ulloa, Naismith and others. We ended up with Anichebe.
Just unacceptable though, Moyes was here 6/7 weeks and we needed a striker for all of that.

Pointless letting lens go. What did we gain out of it, at least he'd be another option going forward. Crazy

How the hell are we in this position, having had a whole summer transfer window. It's a joke.
Instead of asking these questions, people would rather just laugh it off as 'typical Sunderland'.

Chuck Kone uptop, aim Pickfords kicks at him, have Watmore and Khazri bombing past for the flick ons.

Its almost like we should have invested in a top class striker in the summer.

Aye because Top Class Strikers were just lining up for us to sign them but we refused.

letting Lens go without getting a decent striker in first was such a bad decision I'm wondering if it was the club's rather than Moyes', he said something the other day that the decision to get rid of some players was made before he arrived, maybe Lens was one of them.

I understand we missed out on certain strikers, but I don't understand when we pretty much needed striker cover ASAP, we went for Anichibe (sp) when he was unfit and injured and unable to play?!?!, Bentnar (sp) went to forest and played the other night so must have been fit, and uninjured, just find it baffling

Since you're in the know you'll know that he recognises we need a striker and was trying on several front (Rodriguez, Ings, Ulluoa, Naismith etc) to get one but failed to get it over the line.

That's like going to bed with Kirsty Gallagher and waking up with Bella Emberg.

Club is in a crisis as Defoe has a knock and both asoro and victor are injured too.
Who the fuck will play up front Wednesday???

It's pushing it to call an entirely predictable and avoidable turn of events a crisis.

Defoe should not be playing against QPR, fit or not. But our resources are pathetically low and the likelyhood of us playing Premier League matches without a forward of any real standing is very high indeed.

He failed cos he was too slow, he fucked up and left us without options, 5 weeks is plenty of time, he should be fucked

For all you might wish otherwise, you can't force players to sign for us. We needed a back-up striker, someone prepared to spend the vast majority of his time on the bench watching JD (and probably hoping he gets injured), because we 'll probably never play with 2 up front. That alone probably explains why those named players wouldn't come - nothing to do with speed. At the end of the day, you're probably stuck with having to get an out-of-contract player who needs a paypacket - which is exactly what happened.

We should start planning for life after Defoe anyway. He won't hang around given the state of things currently. Our attacking game plan looks based on the dog chasing a Frizbee model.
