Stoneman

Hopefully he'll find a new County, maybe he has one lined up already.
Speaking of Stoneman’s departure, Director of Cricket, Alan Coleman, commented:

“We would like to thank Mark for all he done for Middlesex Cricket in the three years he has been at the Club.

“It is always disappointing when we have to make the decision to release a player, however in the financial position the Club is in, with the constraints upon our salary cap that we are working under, we are forced to make these extremely difficult decisions.

The role Mark has played in helping to develop the younger batters within our group cannot be underestimated and our most sincere thanks go to him for all he has contributed to Middlesex Cricket.

“We wish him well in whatever comes next in his career

I'd like him back at Durham coaching batting at the Academy.

Haven't spoken to him for a few years but I know he used to spend most winters down under with his Aussie wife. Wouldn't be surprised to see him head that way when he decides to move on.

My memory isn't the best but I'm sure that I remember reading a few years ago that he wanted to stay in or around London as his son had health issues
Yeh, his son was receiving specialist treatment at a dedicated children 's hospital. It was some years back so hopefully the issues now only require monitoring.

Yes he was
Durham needed players on decent wedge to leave. He left and it was mutually beneficial to both him and Durham. That’s what a grown up would say anyway.
Still the only academy graduate to genuinely make the grade at championship level as out and out specialist batsmen.
He definitely maxed out in his ability. There have been more naturally talented players not made it at Durham and not got into the England side. He’s been a very successful Championship batsman and managed test match 50s at Brisbane, Perth and in NZ. Fair play to him.

I was lucky enough to play with mark in the junior Durham setup from under 11s and made the most out of what he had. Not the most naturally talented but always put the work in. I heard he’s playing for Bankstown in Sydney this winter
