Stokes to skip the IPL2022

Every single top T20 player in the world plays in the IPL, everyone apart from obviously Pakistan players.

So to suggest our best one does not play while every other country best one does is totally unrealistic
Jos Buttler is paid more by England than all of his T20 contracts combined.

Wasn't so long ago that England players would miss the end of the IPL to come back and play Test matches, letting that slip was a huge mistake. If you're centrally contracted then you should be available for England whenever you are required, absolutely no exceptions. If you want to play in these franchise tournaments then don't sign your central contract, simple as that.

Elevating the IPL (or any franchise bullshit) to the level that it is even in the same conversation as representing your country is absolutely disgraceful, and might be the single worst thing that has happened to Test cricket.

Absolutely
And part of availability should be a few rounds of CC cricket

There is absolutely no way a player should come straight from the IPL to a test match

If they don’t like that, then they don’t get picked and they don’t sign their red ball deal. Simple.

To be fair who does this rsallly apply to? Stokes, Buttler, bairstow. Woakes, Curran and archer

Now it’s debatable how many of them get in the side

Wood has consistently pulled out of IPLs for red ball cricket. Root has not put himself forward, stokes is pulling out this year

There’s no need for the ECB to pander to players. They are well within their right to go but not if they sign their million pound contracts

It’s really not a complicated issue. Letting players miss test matches in India but Buttler played an IPL in October and in March

What a farce that was

Of course you spot on, it’s about trying to find the right balance and be realistic.

The IPL is the tournament all the top T20 players in the world play in, but of course the national team should come first before any club, that’s part of the problem with football imo.

The realistic part is working together to get that balance, simply banning all England players playing any part in it whatsoever is not the way to go imo.

And the reason for my post in the first place.
