Good on him. If the FTECB are serious about Test cricket (ha ha yeah in know) they should be making anyone involved in the Ashes stay and play the CC instead of f***ing off to the IPL in April and May, including the likes of Buttler even though I don't want him in the Test side currently
Ultimately you are going to find it very hard to stop people wanting to earn life changing amounts of money in relatively short space of time

I couldn't care less if Buttler does. He's a white ball specialist and has shown test cricket isn't is speciality. Get Foakes or Ben Cox behind the stumps.

It’s simply not realistic in the slightest to stop one of the worlds best T20 cricketers playing in the most high profile T20 cricket tournament.
No other country would stop their top T20 cricketer playing in the IPL, so of course England should not stop Buttler playing.

Every single top T20 player in the world plays in the IPL, everyone apart from obviously Pakistan players.
So to suggest our best one does not play while every other country best one does is totally unrealistic

You missing my point, I am not saying IPL should come first and agree if test match overlaps the back end of the IPL he should come home for the test match,
What I replied firstly was when a poster said he should miss it altogether.
He is one of the best T20 players in the world of course he should go to the IPL, like every single other top T20 player does, from every other single country.
If another country had a test match if our country and their best T20 player was also in the test side, he would go to IPL first snd join up with the squad for the test match.
He would not miss the IPL altogether to play in the CC which is what the poster said the ECB should make Buttler do.
It’s that but that’s unrealistic.

And England don’t have warm up games at home they have the county championship

If they aren’t Willing to do that they don’t get central red ball contracts

Remember Buttler doesn’t have to sign that red ball deal
He’s still one of our best batsman. If he’s not fit to bowl he gets in the side as a batsman only.
