Stokes selected to play for England lions against Bangladesh in 3 one day matches which clash with our county championship match against Surrey Aug 22nd to 25th.
The lions are also now playing the Aussies in a two day match on 16th and 17th August in place of Northants as they are at t/20 finals day which could mean he misses the cb40 match at Derby on the 15th.

I dont mind tbh, a good chance for someone else to step up. English Test Cricket comes first for me.

How is stokes supposed to improve his 4 day game and force himself into the test side if he's playing ODI against f***ing bangladesh.

As it should for everyone.

It's like premier league v league 1 footy for me. With the premier league your watching far better quality players which is nice but with the division 1 club you can go along, watch players that you have access too and might see in the bars after the game and enjoy yourself without the whole entourage and ridiculous prices.

I freckling love going to watch Durham and if i had the money and time off work I'd follow them round the country. England I watch but always think twice when deciding whether its worth paying so much for a ticket.

Haven't seen anywhere near as much of Durham as I would have liked over the last few years. Going on BH monday for the YB40, and looking forward to it.

England is just to much money these days. What is it £80 for a day at the test.

Funny enough I paid £55. Not as a member but through some civil service society. I think it's ridiculous that I can pay this when I'd have had to pay £80 as a member. The tickets not subsidised by the society, it says £55 on the ticket.

Some of the tickets were 55 quid but they sold out very quickly

Stokes getting a lot of praise for his bowling today against Aussies. Some even suggesting he is an outside bet for the England squad for final Ashes test. The one down side is that a few journos are suggesting that his batting is suffering by playing his home games at the Riverside.

Sadly its a fair point to make. Unless your a Benks or a Diva scoring a weight of runs for batsmen at the Riverside, particularly young players making their way in the game is extremely difficult. Players averaging low 30s at Durham are doing a decent job on a pitch where teams don't score 300+ as a rule. I can see how they look with envy at players piling up weight of runs elsewhere who simply wouldn't be doing so if they played at Durham every other week.

They will crowbar him into the test side at the earliest opportunity

I have heard this argument before. There some truth in it, but we play half of or games away! More to the point we have an unreliable top order which is at least as much of a problem as Stokes regularly has to come in early with three or four down.

Stokes' batting is improving and in time will get back to the level he was at before he broke his hand, the signs are good, although coming in at 280 for 3 or 4 a few times might help! But the real story about Stokes, and the story they are now catching up with at national level is his bowling. Anyone who has seen him bowl a bit over the last year or so will have seen the huge leap his bowling has made. He is bowling consistently at sharp pace with decent control, can reverse swing it and has a terrific yorker, (he yorked Smith yesterday). It is a matter of time before he becomes a centrally contracted player.

There is a reason no batsman whether Durham or the opposition ever comes in at the Riverside at 280/3 and it isn't down to every batsman in the country being shite. The argument is a sound one.

Lions played v Bangladesh today, slightly one-sided as England racked up 353-4 then bowled them out for 151. Stokes took 1-15 from 8 but didn't get a bat. Luke Wright bowled 1 over, took 2-5 and hit 143 off 68 balls!! Ballance got 115 from 89. Even Carberry picked up 2 wickets
