That's the thing, any manager worth his salt would have taken great offence to that kind of question.

I suspect it was just set up to have a go at us but the fact he's still willing to make shit up to cover his back shows the mark of the man.
 

Well, if all of this is true, it would appear that he gets a shit load of grief off fans at just about every club he's been at.

I wonder what the common denominator is?

I think I've figured it out:

Aye, 8 years ago today according to the FB ‘memory’ I woke up to this morning.
My sons first proper game apparently (thought it was Blackburn under O’Neill).
At least he saw reality I guess.

The Everton game on MOTD on Saturday had reminded me of it beforehand already.
The way the booing commenced as soon as the away sides winning goal touched the back of the net.
I remember a friend messaging me back in 2011 about how brilliant the instant reaction was.
From memory Victor Moses dived mind to win their penalty.
Little things.
 
He took so much time dusting worself doon after every defeat, considering that his head itself has its own postcode and MP, he had no time for team selection or tactics for the next game

Someone should ask the police to see if they can back up the story. Their probably forced to disclose that sort of information under Freedom of Information.

Id highly doubt the question will have been asked like that.. probably brought up by Bruce himself.
 
Remember when he was at Hull and they did a big piece on him meeting a 90-odd year old war veteran who still followed Hull everywhere and he said 'I hope I look that good at 92, although I doubt it after the way they treated me at Sunderland' :lol:
 
What an extraordinary claim to have made. I don't go along with people being abused and especially comments being made about their families but had things been so bad that he needed police protection to get home it would have been all over the papers at the time. I am sure that the Club would have also felt a need to condemn any behavior like that by fans. No organisation could allow to have any of its employees attacked in such way and do nothing about it. Indeed if it was necessary to accompany anyone home I am sure the Club would employ their own security people to do it rather than leave it to the police

Strange too that Bruce has waited so long to mention these details. He has taken quite a few opportunities in the past to be critical of Sunderland fans but I don't recall him mentioning anything about police escorts and such before now. Like most football grounds I should think that there would always be police and security around the main entrance to keep crowds in order as the players managers and match officials came and went its pretty normal stuff
