25 years old so not eligible for the u23 except as an overage player. Appreciate that Power, McLoughlin and potentially O’Nien are gone and we need bodies, but I’m not at all convinced by this, the fact he’s a Mag born and raised in Newcastle just casts further doubt.

Two of Pools players, Sterry and Ferguson I believe are good enough to play in league 1 IMO. However you do have to worry about why it is , both ended up in the National League and at Pools , having been highly rated earlier in their careers. I know it sometimes happens, but it does seem a bit strange. Think Ferguson was POTY at Blackpool in league 1 at one time, then not long after was playing for Shildon. Fair play to the lads though for getting their careers back on track

He is class and will be one of our best defender. He only played for shields because a deal fell through on the last day of the transfer window

Ferguson captained Blackpool as a young lad aswell, by most accounts at that time he was a genuine talent. He’s also a Sunderland lad and came through our acadamey, I’d be much happier to see us give him a chance than Sterry.

Ferguson is decent also.

This is the key.
Is he better than the players we had last season who didn't win us promotion?
