Standard in the championship...

From all the games i've seen it is very very poor, little quality and will take next to nothing with our current squad to escape at 1st attempt, with the big fish in that league i feel no reasinbto be fearful of anything in that league

and here's me thinking it was just the Mags that were deluded --silly me

So were they deluded when they said they'd piss the league?? All the monks on here said they were with the shite squad they had but lo n behold they win the league!
Like i've already said we will piss it, promotion is a formality, i know several of the team members if not most will not be there and the team will be unrecognisable BUT, we have a fantastic crop of youth, a few of the 1st teamers that are good enough will still be there, plus couple of additions...

I'll even admit you were 'right' if we finish in the playoffs. 5 teams the bookies currently fancy ahead of us and that doesn't include the 3 teams who will miss out on the playoffs. If Sheff Wed and Fulham both fail then they will be shorter than us as well.

The mags went down on 35 or so points, unbeaten in 6 with a very good manager and a lot of optimism. Contrast their final home game with ours. We will more than likely end on 24 points, a manager most despise, massive debt and extremely unlikely to generate 75m+ on the sale of 4 players to enable a 50m spending spree.

It really is like chalk and cheese, hence why they were overwhelming favourites to win the league at a best price 5/2 at the start of the season, we are 14/1 for a reason. They also didn't piss it, they pipped Brighton in the 89th minute after being 7 behind with 3 games to go and Brighton largely on the pop after a great achievement of getting out of the league. Plus Huddersfield were looking on course to potentially catch them as well until they conceded a late goal against Derby.

I'm hoping for top 10 at least, but even making the playoffs will be a decent achievement unless there is enormous change from top to bottom.

we struggled to beat qpr and shrewsbury think you aint seen that many games most are full of running and we gona lose loads of players if moyes or who ever can build a side to get us straight back wad be nowt short of the 8 th wonder of the world ,,,,,we in the shit

Moyes could nt build a Lego castle man, he is utterly useless.

Ignore, if we can, our mates up the road. Many far better organised clubs than us have gone down and struggled. The size of the club will only help so much, especially with a half empty ground, when the team, manager and hierarchy are so poor and we're completely skint.

It's a different type of football to be fair. Not pretty, but different. I honestly thought Newcastle was pretty shite this year and Burton kinda impressed me, but there isn't much logic in this joke of a league.

Shouldn't be too hard, aren't they given away free with every copy of the Sunderland Echo?
Better that than an ounce of smack.

Posting on here at 20 to 3 on a Monday morning btw. What a life you must lead.

Must admit Ive' only really watched TV championship games that involved the Mags and a few Boro games over the last couple of seasons
and at first glance the general standard doesn't appear great and you could think we may do ok but both our rivals had different strenghs,
Mags had goalscorers,Boro didn't easily concede, then you struggle to think what we have to offer as a positive taking our finances into the equation.

the championship will be a bit more even next year with possibly only Boro & Villa having the clout to pull away from the rest everyone else bar Bolton will be pretty much even
what Sunderland need to do is get the recruitment right because a lot of your players have been used to the premier league and I don't think a lot will fancy this league ,
as for the standard bar probably Huddersfield & Fulham most teams play the same system its just going to be a hard old slog

Absolute dribble

The standard is worse, but the effort is just as high

It's true. But if Moyes goes after the season is finished, the whole club gets a massive boost and we're all of a sudden looking forward to the season.

Pickford, Kone, Borini and Lens sold to free up a bit of funds, quite a few players released to ease up the wage budget. Things start looking a bit more rosey in terms of finances and the transfer market.
