Staff Redundancies at SAFC

Well staff received emails after the meeting telling them they were at risk today. One of my mates got one and the other didnt.
At risk yes, doesn't mean he is losing his job. Some roles will be affected, others won't. This isn't a new concept, it happens all of the time. It isn't a case of saying you, you and you are going see you later.

You wouldn't sack someone in a "normal job" for being on the long term sick though

Every company I've worked for has stated in the contract that abuse of sickness leave will result in warnings and eventually dismissal

As much as I would like to work at SAFC I'd never do it for this reason. Your job relies on the useless fuckers on the pitch.

To be fair even if those useless twats played well the club is still ran like utter shit so we'd still be knackerd financially.

I know how it works mate, been through it myself. But when you get put on redundancy notice, its very unpleasant and generally leads to you losing your job.

Finally being run as a proper business, about time as well.

It's been a gravy train for too many for too long , never mind the bumbling along with no real leadership in the boardroom.

If some lose their jobs through it , so be it, not nice for them personally but such is life.

aye but just be sure not to complain next season if you can't through to the ticket office over the phone or your in there for ages with a massive queue of people and only one person serving.

 You do not know that.

And even if it were so, shall the club employ people just because it can?

You can't argue with that. It's sad to see people lose their job but if there isn't a job for them then there's not a lot you can do about it.

I agree with that. It's gutting that people are losing or might lose their jobs but if they're working in areas where the club is no longer focusing then you can't really keep them on. Equally they might, if we go down, have to let some people go in areas like the club shop (which will be less busy), in ticket sales (okay that's almost certainly not direct SAFC employees but you know what I mean, there'll be less calls for tickets, less admin needed). It's sad, but if there isn't the work for someone after relegation then you can't really expect us to keep them on the books just to be nice.

Redundancies are a sad, but necessary, effect of the poor management of this club. Nevermind players being asked to donate wages to keep jobs, what we really need is for the club to get its act together so they, if we go down and cuts are needed, we can come back up, actually progress and create numerous new, sustainable jobs as a result.

Maybe, but being at risk doesn't mean "some very good people are losing their jobs". That's total speculation.

Nobody will know who is going yet. All that has been started today will be the statutory 90 day consultation period. During that time any company must listen to counter proposals and applications for voluntary redundancy.

This is correct. One of my mates works there and they were all called to a meeting with Bain this morning and he told them if they wanted to take voluntary redundancy, they wouldn't refuse them. No person has definitely been told they are going yet.

Sorry "Some very good people are at risk and are very likely to lose their jobs"

Hope that clears things up for you. Getting that email is an horrendous experience. Nothing speculative about that

They have received additional emails to inform them of the level of risk, since the meeting.
