Surprised Bairstow is being rested when hes batting at 3 and not keeping wicket......unless hes going to be wicketkeeper for the last two tests in which case why bother taking foakes.

It's all very well saying the sub-continent as if all the pitches are the same, but Sri Lanka is super dead for seamers. India generally isn't it's just fairly flat until the last day or two, but good seamers are in the game - they're not relegated to guys who wear down the new ball and block an end, hoping a wicket falls their way. Good seamers take wickets. Shami averages 21 a wicket in India. Yadav 24.5 and they're getting 3-4 wickets a game. Oddly Bumrah hasn't played a home Test. Ishant is the only one who averages just under 3 wickets a home Test and even then his bowling average is 31 (better than away, as with the others).

Sri Lanka generally warrants 3 spinners and 2 seamers. India generally warrants 2 spinners and 3 seamers. The seamers need that x-factor. I hope Archer has it again, because that low 80s stuff won't cut it. Broad & Anderson have enough smarts to be effective but I agree with them being rotated, Stokes & Archer have to firing on all cylinders.

Why does anyone need to be rested for India tests? It’s not starting til 5th Feb, that’s a decent break

I get why Stokes and Archer missed Sri Lanka, but why are we resting players in India?

5 T20s and 3 ODIs straight after the tests then it’ll be straight into the IPL. Powers that be clearly have their eye on the T20 World Cup in India later this year

Swann on the cricket show talking sense about Mo'.

Swann is quality like, I am in total agreement with others about his joking around n that, its awful, but I just automatically tune out, but when he talks cricket, he talks more sense than the majority of ex players.

He is desperate to be involved, he really should be.

What time does it start tomorrow
Good to see you are following a cultured game hank ;)

He offers an opinion without trying to be sensationalist and it feels genuine.

Alarm set for this.

Having to isolate at my girlfriend's, but she's got a bug so sleeping in the spare room as it's nearer the toilet - which means i can watch this free of annoying questions

I'm a terrible sleeper, wake up every other hour, no doubt I'll see the 1st ball
