Springwatch with Hellsbells

We had a Bluetit pair inspecting the new bird box at the weekend. They spent hours coming back and doing the little nesting shuffle dance that’s supposed to indicate they have chosen it as a nest. But they’ve not been back today so I’m not sure.

Oooh we have activity! She’s started to build a nest!!

Latest - the nest is pretty much finished now, and Mildred is starting to fuss about in it a lot. I wondered if sh'ed laid an egg and I couldn't see it but she's still moving stuff around, so it's probably still to come. George has started to bring her food.
That's fantastic. That bit she decided to chuck out. Bless her. This better have a happy ending. I can't actually watch Springwatch for this very reason.

I’ll warn you early then - they will probably have about 8-10 eggs and not all of them will live to leave the nest. Last time I watched her trying to take a dead body out of the very small hole.

Oh dear. No I probably couldn't cope with that. I know nature's brutal, but I don't always want to watch.

How have I missed this thread 🤯

Just read all the way through it from the start and it’s class. Fingers crossed for this year’s brood.
