Spirit of 37 - display v Newcastle

SO37 should pull the display at the 11th hour.
The one you wanted to order was Newcastle match specific and I'd imagine this one is more generic red and white / haway the lads / safc badge. Save it for last game of the season.

Send a real message to the club - you vetoed our idea, we're pulling this display because of some spurious reason. Just like they do to you.

The club have been a disgrace with the contempt they have shown on this issue and you should leave them without any display.

Good to see you again fella, mebbed me but haven’t seen you in here much 👍

Aye him and that lass people are on about started the whole “show your quotes” thing😂😂
To be honest I thought the idea of fundraising was to have an ongoing float to use as and when, so if we got to the play offs (for example) and needed to organise something at short notice you weren't relying on people raising £17k at short notice, or for ongoing maintenance and to replace/new flags as and when. So if you did raise more than you needed I would have just assumed it would go towards the next one.

The mind boggles with some people on Twitter (and on here). Especially when you have a genuine link with the club as well - it's not like you're a brand new group who've cropped up from nowhere suddenly demanding money, you've delivered what you said you would every time and the Sheff Wed / Poppy displays are iconic.

What really bugs me with those on twitter moaning about the display is that they are the ones continually moaning about the atmosphere at home. And also the ones that haven't contributed to the display.

One lad who hadn't put any money in was suggesting the money went to charity instead. Its the same old people with the same on hang on mates who just agree with everything they say.

Canny waste of £17k though

The main problem they have is the club agrees to things then waits till they have collected money before pulling it and leaving them to take the fall, so it makes them look like they’ve collected money for nowt.

So when you have a group asking for donations it’s them, and not the club who pull it, who gets the grief.

It’s clearly been done to put them off wanting to do more and I’m not surprised they are sacking it off tbh.

I'm fairly certain they wouldn't be in the slightest bit bothered

Media team might be a tiny bit annoyed. Rest of the club couldn’t give a fuck.

They see us as free labour and the fans paying for something that they then control. Fuck them.
Aye fair enough mate. Their meddling in the mags display was beyond pathetic. Is the spirit of 37 going to carry on after the mags game or is that it?

I think a couple of the lads are still keen to carry on so I’m sure there’ll be something. There’s a lot of stock there that won’t be left to rot for certain.

I just really haven’t got the time to commit to it enough anymore. You go in 3 hours early and get grief of stewards cos flags were left in the seats, grief of the deputy safety officer saying he’s going to throw it all out because it was blocking an access way (only after a club contractor moved it all and left it in a f***ing tip)

We try to keep it all neat, which is difficult when there’s only a few people there to set up/tidy away and this is what the club treat the stock like.

They shifted it all to install a drainage pipe and let rainwater leak all over our stuff. We’ve been asking for storage for over a year. They don’t value us, just like they don’t value supporters.

The thing is, and this place is proof, anyone can create a Twitter account or an RTG account and start slagging off people, they don’t even have to be Sunderland fans.

I’d imagine a lot of the negativity comes from people on a wind up.
