Speakman gone

Worries me that tbh. Does he jump before he’s pushed or does he just like packing stuff in boxes?
He did a Speakman at Lens, taking a sleeping giant back to the big time.

Nice was a step up, sort of. A good project with a more successful team. He did a pretty decent job on paper.

Roma again was a step up. The club was a bit of a basket case. How much of that was his doing, I don't know.

The trajectory is the right direction at least.

Did a great job for us even though he got a load of abuse in our League 1 days from some fans. Thanks Speakman and all the best wherever you end up next

It didn’t go brilliantly at Roma for him but there were a lot of issues behind the scenes. The owners had given a CEO called Lina Souloukou a lot of power and she caused loads of problems creating division and falling out with people. She’s now at Nottingham Forest…

I think Ghilosfi would’ve done well with Gasperini as coach. They like similar style players.

Speakman did a great job here.

Are people that shocked / surprised? Always on the cards Ghisolfi came in the summer.

Speakman has played a massive part in us getting back to the top flight. But he’s not got the same contacts as Ghisolfi in European football / experience in the deals we’re now negotiating.

Good luck Speakman, can see him going back to Brum the / midlands.

Crikey. Only now catching up on things after work and this is a big surprise.

He’s leaving with every fans best wishes. We haven’t said that for a while :) KLD isn’t messing around though is he.

Good luck speakers

I’m sure he’ll have left with everyone’s best wishes and thanks! Not to mention a “golden handshake” he was KLDs right hand man since league one.

I’m sure he’ll have been looked after and welcomed back to the club as a guest in the future.

Without doubt. I think we are in safe hands going forward too.

What is the next phase now that the first one has been completed? He wants top six or even champions league

We’re definitely going for a run in the fa cup this season and top ten. Bonkers how far we’ve come since Neil was at Ewood park instead of the SOL

Proper gutted about this. He’s had his fair share of criticism from us but he’s been an incredibly good influence on this club on and off the pitch. He’ll always be in my good books. I get that this is a necessary step in the clubs progression but it doesn’t change how I feel. Best of luck to you speakman and thanks for everything

Can't say I ever really warmed to him but I fully respect the job he did here, particularly given the resources available to him.

Loved the story he told a couple of years ago about when he was in Ikea. He was looking at a bed when someone popped out from behind the furniture and said "don't forget to sign a f***ing striker" - or words to that effect. 🤣

We’ve never had as ambitious of an owner marra. The board, key figures like Bruce & Ghisolfi all seem to be aligned in making us the best we can possible be.

It’ll be interesting when we sell one of the players for big, big, money that’ll be the test in if we keep investing in some of the best young talent playing in leagues like Belgium, Holland etc.

Its the most excited I’ve been (42) in how ambitious the club are and what we’re trying to do.

Speakman did a great job in identifying mostly British talent for next to nowt to get us into the position we are now (his foreign signings Jewi, Ba, Ruysn ect were mostly “misses”)

How this affects the club in the future , depends very much on who was responsible for the summers signings.

I don’t think people realise how much of coup it was in a promoted side getting Ghisolfi… said at the time, he was the most important signing we made after promotion.

No way could Speakman have attracted or dealt with the agents of the players we signed to convince them to join a newly promoted side.
