Speakman gone

I said "joint undertaking" based on club statements and reporters with access to the club.

What do you think and and why?
I've said what I think. KLD saw the shambles of the summer 2024 managerial hunt, stepped in and brought in someone via an agent he was very very familiar with.
The Wise Men Say on this today is an absolute disgrace. The worst side of our fanbase on show.
Is this because they disagree with your opinion?

Speakman managed to bring in some quality players, the type of which we’ve traditionally struggled to bring in. The man deserves our respect.

That's just an opinion though and I'm not going to argue one way or the other on that.

I was challenged on what I was supposed to know and responded with what I do know.

Here's something I know about the catastrophic appointment of Beale.
Kyril Louis-Dreyfus concluded: “I’m thrilled to welcome Michael to our Club and wish him every success here at the Stadium of Light. Throughout our discussions, it was clear that he shares our ideals on implementing a high-performance culture and he is committed to a playing style that we feel is central to our progress.

I'm sure he was the reason some targets like Keane and Rosenior would not come here. I always felt he was at loggerheads with Mowbray.
Beale ? Well what can you say ?
Yes he got some things right but he got some things wrong.
Didn't like his manner, suspect somethings gone wrong BUT we will.need knowledge on home grown players does Ghisolfi have that ?

Only @GarethQ , and he did get a bit tidier towards the end of it tbf. He also didn’t espouse views I’ve not seen on here in their numbers.

In fact his opinion didn’t deviate from my own that much tbf.

Another shameless go at promoting my own social media..

Good luck to him. Did a great job turning the club around. Never really understood why some of our fanbase didn't appreciate the job he was doing - mistakes will always be made but for me the trajectory was always upwards during his time here. Think we have just got to the level now where we need others with more relevant experience to take over.

that’s fair, mainly Gareth but he was going on like Speakman shagged his wife and swapped her for Mick Beale seemingly just because he has a problem with LinkedIn

LinkedIn is f***ing gash to be fair to him
It was nothing short of embarrassing the way Gareth spoke about him. Had to turn it off. He’s always been the same on him but he just made himself sound like a complete idiot today. Stephen spoke well.

I think between them they got to the overall opinion of his tenure.

We can’t just rewrite history now because we’re in the top division.

You had Stephen saying ‘well, he got us up two divisions’ he did do that. He deserves a lot of credit for it. A few of the transfers he oversaw are still playing and performing here.

Then you had Gareth saying ‘he’s a knob, he’s a self protecting prick who got lucky’ not entirely true

The position we’re in is not by luck, but he was an arsehole at times, and he made a lot of mistakes, those mistakes were called out, on here in particular.

I thought it was balanced myself, but i maybe in the minority here.

A man with a plan. Pursued his plan relentlessly, often against some 90% of the fanbase, and I think we can all be grateful he did because it worked.
It's been some ride! Almost like he looked at what took us down all the way to League 1 mid-table and did the exact opposite.
Arguably could've gone all wrong, maybe needed a bit of luck here and there, some horrendous signings and appointments aswell, but ultimately the sum of his decisions got us to where we are now.
Always came up with the goods when under pressure, his worst mistakes came when he thought he's a genius, which in fact, strangely enough, he is.
Thanks for everything!
