Speakman gone

Mate who has links to the club text me and he said there's been a massive falling out behind the scenes over the Hume hybrid role. Speakmann and others have been putting pressure on RLB to at least rotate or try something different. RLB is stubborn and refused, leading to this.

Not good, especially after the strong season, but I wouldn't be too concerned cos everything I just typed is completely made up.
Nee offence mate but that sounds like an absolute load of old shite

Done a fantastic job but structure never made sense with the two of them. Was always going to happen.

It could have made perfect sense. Speakman oversees everything, men's, women's, academy. Ghisolfi focusses on men's first team recruitment. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's how it worked.

So will Ghisolfi now oversee everything including women's and academy?

For context, the below was the first starting 11 named when he walked in the door:

Burge

McLaughlin
Flanagan
Wright
Hume

Scowen
Leadbitter
Power

Maguire
Grigg
McGeady

I'm sorry like but there's not even room for debate on this one - anyone who doesn't think he has done an exceptional job is simply an idiot.

Thank you for everything Kristjaan. You will always be very fondly remembered here for the crucial role you played.
Speaksshite iirc

I always read a little more in to it when the words 'immediate effect' are used. Like it's not been a pretty affair. Has he stepped out of line or something? Done or said something he shouldn't.

Is this the new version of the Speakman picks the team rumour?

No one is safe.

One minute you’re plodding along getting a club from league one to premier league.

Next minute, some hotshot Italian comes in, signs a bunch of overseas lads, the club do better than expected, and you’re shoved out the door.

What a life.
Same thing happened to me in a band I was in back in the day, creme brûlée we were called

It was always on the cards as soon as Ghisolfi was appointed.

He’ll not struggle for a job.

Onwards and upwards

Got a feeling this is KLD and well planned progress hopefully.
Gisholfi been here about a year so a decent handover with Speakman, who arrived 2020 his work now done,
time for both parties too move on,
league 1 to premier league.
Job well done good luck in your future.

Of course in announcements like this there's always a bit of PR spin so you never can work out whats actually going on. Did he say he was leaving so have they pushed him out beforehand? Its a board of Directors decision feels like he's been sacked? The note isn't exactly glowing in its praise for the job he's done - in fact this thread is far more appreciative. All seems a bit strange to me. Who knows? I wish him well though because to me he's the one that has made this all happen for us

May have expressed his displeasure at being in the dual role. We just dont know.

Oh my days, some reet fannies in here 🙄 People are looking waaaay too much into Speakman leaving.

It was probably agreed in the summer, between KLD and Speakman, that we'd get a DoF in. I'm guessing that a handover period would have been agreed between both, plus Ghisolfi (results depending).

I doubt both have clashed, especially given our position in the table and success in market. If they had, then one of them would have moved sooner, right?

I think the biggest shock has been the timing of the announcement tbh
I think the timing makes perfect sense for a transition period having been completed and now Ghisolfi has a clear run up to the summer window. But the curt statement with no comment from Speakman makes me think maybe that wasn't the exact plan.

Done a brilliant job here and should have no problem getting another role.

I see a lot of fans panicking about how we'll cope going forwards but it is just natural progression, Speakman served his purpose very well up to now, but as a club we no longer work in the same markets.

Finding gems from the lower leagues or youth football to do a job in the championship is one thing, finding semi-established player who can cut it in the premier league is another.
