Ipswich took 4 points of Southampton!we can never 100%tell if they gained any advantage as perhaps they might have lost both without the spying.they cheated systematically as a club and need to be significantly punished and you cannot equate in game cheating by individual players to systematic cheating by the club.also why just three clubs?it sounds to me they did it to everyone and CCTV only caught them out for three.Millwall could ruin them if they find any evidence, the likes of Wrexham will probably sue for a huge amount but then get around £5m like Boro did from Derby. I know it’s a different issue but there’s a kind of precedent created somewhat.
Millwall were a single point from automatics and they drew with them in January so a win there and they’d have been in the Premier League, Southampton admitting they spied on Ipswich will help them as it adds a bit of doubt if Millwall would have got automatics. The legal teams are going to get very rich that’s for sure.
So more lies? At least they admitted it straight away not like City.Southampton should have denied it and had their lawyer try to block and delay at every corner then.
It’s the modern way marra, faux outrage, expression of maximum shock and horror, it’s as if this place was populated with sanctimonious individuals that have blemish free lives.Interesting that when Bielsa did it in 2019 (I think) there was no widespread call for him to resign, or even that much contempt for him or what he had done.
He did a press conference, brought out a load of dossiers and analytical info, and basically said “this is me, I’m a sad information junkie”. And then Leeds got a fine and everyone moved on.
He then went on to orchestrate one of the greatest sporting gestures of fairness by getting his players to concede an own goal, and is generally regarded as a good person and is hero worshipped by Leeds fans.
Compare that to Eckert, who is about to get sacked, tarred and feathered.
I totally agree with the punishment to the club, but I don’t think Eckert should have the rest of his career destroyed by this. He’s been stupid but he doesn’t deserve that.
Are you honestly telling me that if Coventry had beaten us last year, and then we found out afterwards that they’d been cheating by watching our preparations and therefore knew all our set piece routines and how we were going to set up, that you would have agreed that Sheff Utd should have a bye in the final? They lost a semi final, yet are in the final.
Carl Lewis lost the 1988 Olympic 100m final yet won the gold medalThey lost a semi final, yet are in the final.
The argument is that they didn't lose the semi final fairly. They were cheated out of a semi final, so haven't been legitimately beaten. And the verdict and guilty plea backs that up.They lost a semi final, yet are in the final.
That's not really what happened though. Leeds made the EFL look like mugs that time - there was an outrage and then the EFL went to the rulebook and went "oh shit there isn't actually a law about it" and then shit their pants. The only positive that diffused that was that Leeds lost anyway, so it calmed itself down. And Leeds only (admit to at least) did it once whereas Southampton have admit to 3 - but I'd rationalise that if you did it against relegation fodder Oxford its highly likely you did it for every single game you could get access to.Interesting that when Bielsa did it in 2019 (I think) there was no widespread call for him to resign, or even that much contempt for him or what he had done.

Good. It’s gonna knack them for years I reckon.
Exactly this. People need to stop trying to justify it and/or rationalise it and call it what it is. It’s a blatant attempt to cheat.Good.
Tried to get away with cheating and failed.
I’d bet every penny I have they done it for all games.Ipswich took 4 points of Southampton!we can never 100%tell if they gained any advantage as perhaps they might have lost both without the spying.they cheated systematically as a club and need to be significantly punished and you cannot equate in game cheating by individual players to systematic cheating by the club.also why just three clubs?it sounds to me they did it to everyone and CCTV only caught them out for three.

Don't forget that Boro claimed that they had evidence from a former Southampton employee. Nothing has been said publicly about who that person was or what they might have had to say but that isn't at all surprising as it would have almost certainly led to them facing personal threats etc and being put into danger.Ipswich took 4 points of Southampton!we can never 100%tell if they gained any advantage as perhaps they might have lost both without the spying.they cheated systematically as a club and need to be significantly punished and you cannot equate in game cheating by individual players to systematic cheating by the club.also why just three clubs?it sounds to me they did it to everyone and CCTV only caught them out for three.
They cheated before the match by gathering inside information. The idea behind obtaining this info was to gain an unfair advantage on pitch so it wasn't won fair and square and the intent is clear.May look foolish going back on the initial penalty but they should.
It's ridiculous kicking them out. They won it fair & square on the pitch.
If we beat Coventry on the pitch and then got kicked out because some young lad from the backroom team had filmed a bit of their training I think we'd be fuming. Are you honestly telling me that if Coventry had beaten us last year, and then we found out afterwards that they’d been cheating by watching our preparations and therefore knew all our set piece routines and how we were going to set up, that you would have agreed that Sheff Utd should have a bye in the final?
They all got performance enhancing information via the illegal spying missions. Players have come out and said it’s like he can see into the future and knows what the opposition are going to do so I’d say it’s performance enhancing for sure.stupid comparison.
Were the whole Southampton team taking performance enhancing drugs?
It's always the lazy comparison though, referring to the Man City case. The two aren't comparable, not least because it's two separate bodies dealing with it, but also because in one case Southampton admitted it, in the other Man City deny their charges and do their best to stall, block and delay the investigation through a massively expensive legal team.So more lies? At least they admitted it straight away not like City.
I said above, as long as all former & future cheating is treated the same I'm ok with it.They cheated before the match by gathering inside information. The idea behind obtaining this info was to gain an unfair advantage on pitch so it wasn't won fair and square and the intent is clear.
So cheating again using lawyers is a good thing???It's always the lazy comparison though, referring to the Man City case. Where did I say it was a good thing? Keep deflecting. So cheating again using lawyers is a good thing???
Mental view of things.
Ok well then I assume you agree Man City's punishment should be massive.Where did I say it was a good thing? Keep deflecting.
