It seems the whole situation has AI flummoxed too!
I get this with ChatGPT after giving it the results matrix from wiki. I haven't checked it though 🤪

Few things I also think need to happen
The manager needs to be banned from football
They should be made to share all analytical data to see what other teams it has affected
double barrled bellend should get a hefty fine and ban.
An argument would be "why did they do it?"
Not a hard one to answer because their manager is a cheating bellend. Attempting to gain an advantage and should be rightfully sacked and banned.

People aren't half desperate to twist some kind of narrative that Boro shouldn't get Southampton's place in the final.

Not that football fans are git biased like

Think the vast majority are pro being in the final. Personally I just think its entirely unfair on Hull.

Hope they take the efls cash for the game regardless of going up or not.

I asked Google AI "Is Tonda Eckert in trouble?"

Response:

Yes, Southampton manager Tonda Eckert is in serious trouble. He is at the center of an English football "Spygate" scandal after admitting responsibility for sending staff to illegally film opponents' training sessions (including Middlesbrough, Oxford United, and Ipswich Town

That's the sort of insight only technology can provide.

That's the sort of insight only technology can provide.

And that technology's assessment of Hull's case for automatic promotion (instead of having to play Boro):

No, Hull City is not being given automatic promotion. Despite their lawyers aggressively arguing that they should bypass the match, the English Football League (EFL) has ruled that Middlesbrough will replace Southampton in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium

To gain an advantage ... but it is fair to say we don't know if they did, and it can't be proven that it's the reason Southampton won, it also can't be disproven. Fortunately, it's irrelevant.
Same rationale applies to every drug cheat, financial cheat etc etc. Ben Johnson might've won the 100m anyway, why take the gold medal off him?
