Southampton spying compendium thread

Did not see the EFL doing that but to be found guilty of recording 3 separate clubs is ridiculous - deserve all they get!
Go the other 2 games they drew one and lost the other so their spying report wasn’t the best like.
What is the basis of their appeal? They have admitted the charges , broke the rules put in place to ensure this “ tactic “ was illegal and even acknowledged it was systematic.
They had to be kicked out of the competition. The alternative would have been open season on rule breaches.
Probably to have that points deduction removed at best.

They think the penalty is too harsh.

It just seems completely random that they would send the spy to Oxford and Ipswich only.

Boro for the playoffs and what’s a stake - if it was a one off moment of madness, a stupid errors of judgement then fair enough (I’d still have kicked them out for this)

But Oxford United and Ipswich is very random. And both games they didn’t win. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is more to come.

What a wanker.
They should show this to the appeal panel today and given an extra 10 points deduction as well as a huge fine.
Must be awful for the Southampton fans. Just imagine after the euphoria of beating Coventry last year, booking hotels etc, to have it all ripped away. Those fans have travelled the length amd breadth of the country to watch their team - they get a playoff to look forward to and then this happens. I'd be absolutely livid.
I would normally agree, but seeing how their fans went on in that second leg both before during and after the game has got them no sympathy from me. They even had a player doing the binoculars face at a Boro player, who quite funnily is now playing in the final now.

There’s bound to be and those are probably ones they know the lad has bought something in the vicinity and they're banged to rights. It also suits the EFL as Ipswich went up and Oxford down, 4 points behind West Brom.

Ab
Is it likley that Southampton appeal is successful, and they get reinstated?
About as likely as Bonnie blue becoming a Nun .. Prince Andrew holding a talk in about his non sweating days in the Albert Hall
So against the odds a tad mate 🤔..

Aye. Absolutely no chance that fan base should be giving that manager any support now.

The Oxford one happened in December when they were down near the bottom i've heard, so I suppose I can see a reason...There are also rumours it happened against Bristol City and..get this ...SWFC..Now I understand the Bristol one, but Wednesday?..Why waste the expenses?..You only have to look at the sodding table !!..feel for the fans, but can't see it being overturned today

I'm not arguing. But Southampton have the right of appeal against the decision, so time has to be allowed for them to make it even if baseless and even if only 24 hours is allowed.

They’ll have done it everywhere. There’ll just be paper trails for those ones mate.

I watched the 2nd leg of the playoff. I got the result I wanted. Perversely that changed in the the aftermath seeing the gloating by Southampton players , supporters and pundits.
It’s brilliant that they’ve been rumbled and hopefully squirm with embarrassment at their behaviour and lack of humility.
I’d like Hull to put Boro to the sword as the match at the Riverside v Southampton next season will be juicy. Assuming Southampton aren’t relegated on appeal.

Not arguing marra. Apologies .

I suppose Southampton's appeal will be along the lines that the penalty or sanction is not proportionate to the crime.

However Ballard 3 match ban for 'pulling hair' also seems excessive

I guess its football authorities 'making an example'?

It is bad for the fans and the players but their ire should be directed at the club. There’s no way this is getting overturned because the punishment is absolutely spot on. And as you’ve alluded to, there probably is more to come. It’s going to be a stain on Southampton for years to come this.
